Yea i am waiting untill i have the boat...i'm not going to buy anything untill i'm sure that it's going to work either

On the pushing an esc to it's max voltage...i run my LST XXL on 6s with a MMM and 6s is it's max input, it runs fine...is there something different for boat escs that i haven't read/come across yet?

I knew somewhere in this thread somebody was going to say that...

To me the spartan hull looks better then any fiberglass hull availible that i have seen. plus i don't want to build my own boat yet(meening put hardwear on the hull) so i think this will be the easiest way for me to do it....plus it will be cheaper for me to do it this way(see below) and if i decide i want to later these electronics could be transfered to a different hull.

This is what appox. it will cost for the spartan and these electronics:
    Spartan- $370
    Hydra 240- $255
    1520 1Y- $65

    Total: $690

Plus i would sell the stock electronics:
    Stock motor/esc combo- aprox $150?
    Traxxas 2.4 radio- Aprox $40

So the total is now: $500..

I already have 6s 5000mah 30c lipos, spektrum marine rx..

So in reality this should only cost me about $500 rtr including the boat.

I'm pretty sure that building one from scratch with a fiber glass hull would cost alot more.

Thank you for your input though... i was deffinatly expecting somebody to say that before i posted this thread :)

I believe the Castle motor should fit, based on the pictures on traxxas' site, the motor is right at the end of the power module so diameter shouldn't matter to much other then the possiblility of maby hitting the hull?

I'm getting the boat anyway so i will be able to looking into this before buying stuff to do it as i already have a Castle 1520 1Y in my LST XXL conversion, so i can take that one out when the boat comes and size things up.

    Need input!!

Ok guys...so i have the traxxas boat on pre-order all summer now and i'm hopping that it will be here in january sometime....although now that it's winter a frozen up here in Canada, i have lots of time to put "upgrades" in it when it comes..

So, Castle Creations has there motor sale on and they have the Castle/Neu 1520 1Y 1600kV car motor on sale for $65....so i'm woundering..that motor(water cooled), Castle hydra 120, on 6s 2p 10000 mAh(2x 6s 5000mah 40c) in the traxxas spartan....will it work?...will it be over kill? (i love over kill ) any input will be happily receiced
Working...
