Which Neu would you guys suggest for a Matrix Rigger, on 2S or 3S lipo? For fun and a little racing..:D
Nothing like keeping you lipos warm and your prop wet!!

I disagree... Both of these are pretty big motors for that sized rigger... Some good advice handed to me that I'll pass on... "Use the biggest motor (can size) that your hull can HANDLE".... the key being what your "hull can handle"...

The 1506 1Y or the 1509 1.5D would both be BALLISTIC on a 2S rigger of that size... Too much more motor and you'll have weight and torque issues... Unless you make some pretty substantial mods... like make it longer, wider, less lift, etc... basically make it like a 12-cell of old... :D

I'd opt for the 1509 1.5D on 2S... 4500KV, nice torque, excellent accelleration, lower weight... Also happens to be the motor that set the N2-Sport Hydro 5-lap record this year... That rigger would more more than a handful with this setup...

I'm running the 1515 / 1Y in my 33" Delta Force mono; waay faast and requires some serious finesse in driving.

I'd listen to Darin, guys, he KNOWS !

Chopper is very fast with his boat, I too run a 1515 1Y in my syncron and triton and have a 1521 1.5D for the Jolly

A Matrix is a 12-cell rigger, the Blizzard is a 6,8-cell rigger. Why would you have to go bigger than a 12-cell rigger for 2s unless you are racing in the NAMBA we have no restrictions classes?

If that's the case, then I'd go for the 1512 1D... on 2S in that hull... 1512 The 1.5D is only 3200KV, but would be pretty good on 3S... You may need the extra weight to keep in on the water, since it was likely designed to carry the weight of 12-cells, so it probably has some decent lift in the sponsons... perhaps too much for the light weight of 2S2P... and especially for 2S1P... I think it would be a frustrating effort to run it on 4S, however... The 3S combo does sound intriguing... Might be a nice balance of weight and power for that hull...

You are right... the 1509 1.5D would be better suited for a Blizzard...

Sorry, I got the two mixed up...

Matrix is made for 12 cells.. Think the 1509/1.5D should be enough...I want to run on 7.4V 2S1P or 11.1V 3S1P:D ....The hull with 7L and 11.1V 4000mAh only weighs 3 lb's...and with 7.4V 4000mAh only 2 lb 12.8 oz....I fun on 7.4V and WOW on 11.1V .... What props?

I got third overall at the 05 nats in Q-hydro with a 9xl on 16 cells witha x645. So you could backwards engineer a set up off that(kv(9xl)xvoltage(16x1.2))=(kv(?)xvoltage(2x4.0 )).

                        Jeff

Darrin, my post wasn't meant to seem like I was busting your chops, just trying to understand.

No worries... I didn't realize the Matrix was a 12-cell boat at the time...

The thing you need to remember in the equations is that the Neu is considerably more efficient and handles it's heat losses much better than the Nemesis/Hacker motors will... You can't really do them KV for KV... Or if you do... you need to realize that you can get away with a considerably smaller Neu motor can size in comparison...

We used to run 3072 KV or so in O-Mono... 8-cells, figure at most 1.0V/cell UNDER LOAD... ~= 8V * 3072KV = 24,576RPM... Last year in O-Mono, using the same 8-cell (well, IB4200s, but similiar)... I ran the 1512 1.5D... 3200KV * 8 = 25,600RPM... and the motor never got over 100-degrees... The cells, on the other hand... were regularly over 150-degrees...

                          Now this season, in the SAME boat, using a Neu 1515 1D on 2S Lipos.... 4.2V/cell * 2 = 8.4V... about 3.9V/cell under load so 7.8V * 4100KV = 31,900RPM... and again, the motor isn't even getting over 120 degrees...

None of these are water cooled, by the way...

I think you could do similiar with a Nemesis 6L, but you'd have to keep the boat light, prop down, and I'm guessing you'd have higher heating of the motor...

I agree that the 1509 1.5D would probably be plenty... It works VERY well in a Dark Horse Shovel for N2-Sport... It should do very well in a good rigger...
