Ok so I switched out the Turnigy 180a esc with a 120 Turnigy aquastar.
The 180 went into the Genesis
and I am not very impressed with it. The boat seems to runs much slower.
Only thing I can think is that the timing is off. options are as follows
Right now I have it on Auto does anyone have experience with these ESC's?

Option 1: Low advance timing
0°~15°
Recommended for more lower pole count motors. Gives more power and
slightly less efficient.

Option 2: middle advance timing
5 °~ 20 °
Recommended for most motors .Gives a good balance of power and efficiency.

Option 3: High advance timing
15° ~ 30 °
Recommended for most of higher pole count motors
Option4:Auto(default)
Recommended

Hmmm...never thought of going the outrunner motor method. Didn't realize it was cheaper!!

Do you think this motor on 4S would be good in a BJ26 length 26 7/8in (660mm)? Maybe 6S if propped correctly?

Or be able to power a 30+ inch Vegas brushless conversion on 4S? 32.25in (820mm)?

JMO, but go with the T600 (3kwatts) or 3126 (1.5kwatts) 1600kv or 1300kv.

I have on in a scratch build 27 inch deep V seems to be a little too much power for it but I am sure it's a balance thing.

Yeah, sorry, needed some parts.


I'm with Ray on this, I would go with the T600 in the Apparition, or the shorter 406x leopard. The 4074 is a bit too long and requires some modification of the motor mount to fit under the hatch.

what do you use for a collet for that 6mm shaft ?

OSE usually stocks the 6mm couplers, Jeff sells them too. You can also take a 5mm octura collet to a local machine shop and ask them to increase the size to 6mm. They are hardened to tough to drill on the bench.

I tried 4s with the stock prop. which I think is a 38 mm
I want to run a 6s set up in the genesis so I will look for a suitable 600 class heli motor.

The Typhoon is a tad too small for the Genisis but, what props did you try? Did you use 6S?

You would have been better off with the newer Large Heli motors, H600 4030, 1400KV.

This motor on 5S2P will be over 50mph as in my 29" 3.5lb (bare hull weight) cat. Go like the clappers! on 10,000mah total 5s2p 25C 4yr old poly rc cells, Turnigy 180 and a detongued x450 2 blade.
