Hatch Tape vs 3M electrical tape

Ah, I thought the same. It isn't the grip tape. It's the stuff used for taping pads on. Steve sells it here on OSE. By far the best I've used. And, I 've tried lots of diff. tapes!

i use frost king electrical tape. cost .59 per roll at the home depot. and ive never had a problem

I dunked the whole boat as is underwater and pumped air into the antenna tube and the only bubbles came from the corners of the hatch where the tape overlaps. If I press my fingers on those points I am able to pump enough air to blow off the hatch.

dont blow, suk.. pressure differences cause different behaviour to tape and boot seals

had a 21 rigger who always came back with water,, but pressure tested well.
started and watched what was going on .. and the tape was heated by exhaust..it was weakened.. I then pressure tested and POP !

I have been using the cheap stuff from Depot and it works fine...just leaves black schmoo behind when I take it off.

weird thing is, i get some schmoo on my ul-1 gelcoat, but not on my scratch cat which has a urethane clearcoat

The UL-1 is not gelcoat. It's paint.

It's Renfrew shin guard tape. Better than any other tape I've tried. I'm pretty hard on my boats and this stuff adheres VERY well.

Actually based on what I saw when I tore into mine the UL-1 is paper mache and elmers glue.... lol
