thanks! im going to swap out the liner tho. instead of the cable n liner spinning together inside the brass tubing, im going to use a liner that fits tight inside the brass tube and have the cable spin around the liner. i think it will be less drag.

Might want to think about using a Piano Wire Drive. Jeff W makes them. No more two piece cable to worry about. He makes them in 4mm, which will fit this boat.

New coupler, wire & brass tubing and you've got a rock solid drive setup.

Finally got in my new ESC today and took it out for a run. I seem to have the water leak fixed. I bought a 90 amp seaking ESC. The motor runs a little on the hot side didn't measure it but very hot to the touch just wondering what motor and prop would be a good match for my esc. This is my first boat so I really have no Idea what to buy.

I think i am going to try out the 1100kv 3674 from hobby king with a turginy 120a on 6s in mine :) along with a huge prop! It deff won't be near 120a but it will be nice to have for the future!

Look for a motor that has about 1800kv to 2200kv range. You could run a feigo 9xl or 10xl oreven an 8xl, but that would be pushing it on the esc. The motor that comes with the UL1 would be excellent. It is for sale on this site. The motor that comes the SuperVee is also a great motor. You might also buy an infared(sp?) motor temp guage. They are pretty cheap on this site and are invaluable for really testing the motor temps. You will find you use it all the time.

I've been thinking about using the stock motor from a Genesis and a Turnigy 120a ESC.

It's a 36-74 2075kv & 120a ESC, sounds about right for 4s. Isn't that basically an 8xl? ~30k RPM and a 40mm prop should make a nice cool runner and might even be fast! =)

Careful, that is only a 475w motor. Why not go with an out runner? They are air cooled and more torque! I'm using two of these on another project: http://www.himodel.com/electric/1700...ype_H3650.html

Way cheaper too! I'm having really good luck with outrunners. They are very light and very powerful compared to their counterparts. I haven't had any heat issues with the motors being air cooled either.

Nice! I'll have to put an amp meter on some runs soon, I'm waiting on drives right now.
