Does anyone find it strange that they send send items using senders with fake last names?

My wife got my package and called me to say I had a package from Joseph Vaccaro, she thought it was some long lost relative in Hong Kong. See attached picture. Is this a normal thing they do?

Very strange indeed. Did they mark it as a Gift? If so, that would explain them using your same last name. Trouble is, "toys and models" have no customs fees coming into the USA so what's the point?

Ya, I got one from "my lost uncle" as well... this is probably when they mark it as "gift" to appear as if they come from a relative.
They funny part is I don't ask to be marked as gifts.

I did not think you would buy from HK after you "Buy from China or US" post :)

Every single order I received came from James Kim. But some looks like different handwriting.

If you are being charged import duty by Fedex, report them. HTS (Harmonized Tariff Schedule) 9503.00.000 is for toys, models, associated parts, THERE IS NO IMPORT DUTY from anywhere in the world.

DHL tried pulling the 'customs fees' game on me ONE time! They claimed they had to pay it to the feds and I had to reimburse them ($25 fee). It is a bogus game they play! There is no such thing as customs "fees" paid to the feds. I threatened to report them to the feds and they never tried it again!

customs "fees" is what delivery companies charge you to collect the tax and give it back to the Feds (the tax not the fee). Fee is suppose to cover their cost of processing tax.
Interesting that in Canada it costs $5 to do this by "highly overpaid" mail employees and is a flat fee where UPS and FedEx charge flexible fee starting at like $25 and it can go way up.
Rip-off!!! I takes about 5 seconds per scan (I saw the fedex guy doing it at customs office) and then they cut a large check once a week to the Feds with taxes collected. Might cost a fee dollars per parcel.... but not $25 (and that is their lowest)

There is no "TAX" to collect on models, toys, etc. etc. into the USA. Can't speak for other countries. So what I'm saying is it is totally bogus for Fedex, etc. to charge a fee to collect a tax that does not exist!

Yep, you've got the right chart there! As you can see, everything you and I would possibly order says FREE! I hate Fedex, DHL, etc. I use EMS and generally am happy. But you have to find an honest broker in China for EMS services. You can easily get ripped off. I tell my suppliers that if they can't find a broker for $xx per kilo, the deal is off. Haha. They normally find one!
