I've ordered alot from TLR and never had any problems. And no problems with any of the hardware either. Very reliable

This is a good thread however, I was considering ordering something from TLR. This stopped me. So thanks for that.

I'll deal with Steven and a few others that have proven themselves to be reliable and trustworthy.

Buyer beware. I am sure Steven will agree on this.
                  1) insure your package or live with the consequences..If it is of low value, I do not insure..over $100 your call
                  2) UPS to a foreign country.. forget it
                  3) look at the vendor's track history for support on issues and bare in mind if lost by a carrier, this not the vendor's fault.

UPS automatically comes with insurance up to $100 anything over you have to pay extra.
I'm not sure about other carriers.
The Manx has been sitting dormant, but I think I finally have my motivation back. I hope to see it float soon.

It would probably stir up some legal issues, but wouldn't it be great to have a list of these bad vendors and the circumstances involved? Maybe a forum where vendors and customers can resolve their disputes? People would get a better feel of who they are/are not going to deal with.

The question also becomes what carrier actually pays the insured value. Been there and it is not pretty picture, without a validated signature of receit of the goods

I think it would give potential customers somewhat of a picture of what to expect from some vendors, especially if there are alot of posts with different issues. I myself haven't had a problem with FDM, Chris has been good to me, but others may have.

Every vendor will have an issue every now and than. Its part of the mail order business. Its a matter of figuring out the amount of problems a particular vendor has. Also his response and resolution to get it solved.

Last year I had an order going to Canada that was lost. I had the email with the customer saying that he refused the insurance. It was to much money. He went on rrr and bashed me for not replacing it. I felt that I shouldn't have to replace a item that was lost, when the customer had the chance to buy insurance and decided not to. What saved me on the forum was I had a copy of his email.

I know who Steven is talking about. I got a call from this guy and he was mad that I supported Steven on the way he handled the situation. Steven offered compensation to this guy but he had to pay for insured and registered shipment...he refused! This guy was unreasonable and I know what he would have said and done, if he was in that position.
