Regular TP4060 on 50K RPM

Hi guys!

Next season, I'm planning to upgrade my SAW outrigger setup to a TP4060 2000kv with 8s. Theoretical RPM under load is 50-55000 (this is higher than the passport 50K RPM). Will a standard (regular) rotor handle that kind of RPM? Or do I really need the SVM series?

I already have a standard TP4060 1750kv with 8s (45-50,000 RPM by telemetry ) running without any problems and I like it.
I'm wary of the SVM series with its solid rotor due to its fragility.

I'd be grateful for your experience and advice.

What is the speed goal? im on a tp 2300KV & 6s. standard TP motor. 45mm 3 blade prop.

The current result is 172 km/h, next season with an updated motor, props and sponsons I plan to reach 200 km/h.

I think so too, but the manufacturer specifies a maximum of 50,000 RPM. I wonder if anyone has exceeded that maximum.

Yes, plenty have

koen, a SAW pass is basically 10 seconds if that.

Search the threads for tyler's explanation of the TP motors and that will help with deciding.

I'm not much of a fan of big boats and catamarans; I sold all my models. My passion is outriggers.

My rigger is based on a Dr. Super Evil hull and has selfmade SAW sponsons that are fundamentally similar to your boat. When I finish making them, I'll make a new post on this topic.

I just scattered a rotor in my TP4050 2100kv regular on 8s. Made 3 awesome runs before it happened though.

This is a alarming sign. Did you have RPM telemetry? Did the ESC survive? Please tell more about your setup.

Logging was unfortunately full! It would have been really cool to see that event on a data log.

XLX2 survived no problem this time.

I also use a XLX2 Hydra and I'm counting on its protection to protect me from rotor failure. Have you had any other experiences with rotor failure using this ESC?

I cooked a 4090cm rotor from heat but that was my bad. Thats it so far. (you can't buy just a rotor for a 4090cm by the way lol)

What protections are you counting on? Do you have a sensored motor?
