    Leopard upgrade from UL-1?

Looking at the possibility of dropping a Leopard #3650 2930kv in place of a 2030kv UL-1 for a full P power upgrade. What's the scoop on the Leopard motors and would it be too much for the UL-1 controller?? I know they're "rated" for 60 amps continuous but inside word is they are more robust than Aquacraft lets on........

My UL-1 controller has seen 110 amps logged many times on SAW runs, 70+ average for about 3:00 runs or so. Different boats, both cats.
It has also been run with a 1512 1800kv, that's what beat the crap out of a motley crew. Didn't have the logger back then. Surprised it survived that actually, was during my first summer running electric, didn't really have a clue what I was doing!
It does have an extra cap added, just ran it across the power leads as close to the esc as possible.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

It ain't the esc you should worry about. The hull won't handle any more speed.

2930kv is a hell of a lot of revs on 4s. I think it will draw more than the ESC can handle unless you prop down a lot. With the original prop, I don't think that the motor will last too long either.
See the danger. THEN DO IT ANYWAY!!!

I run the leo 3674 2200kv on 4s and the boat is always in the 50s useing a t120esc and a m445 prop all temps are in the 90-110 degrees.

Don't think Don is talking about using it in a UL-1 hull...more or less just wanting to know if the UL-1 ESC will handle the Leopard's amp draw...

Don...what are you running? Hull? One of KP's props?

I'd say the best UL-1 upgrade is a PT Stealth Sport hull.

Correct. Ken you know me well enough to know what type of hull it is.

FWIW if we were talking about upgrading a UL-1 hull I'd go with an ML Boatworks GP hull over the PT hull without hesitation.

Anybody ever wire two UL-1 esc's together like Castle does with the Hydra 120's (to make 240's) ?? Hmmm...

That would get it done Don....

Works out to about 39k rpm loaded.

The objective is to upgrade with something the AQ ESC can handle.
