    UL-1 Build. 55mph+

This Is Just a little preview of my New UL-1 with the Neu 1515 1.5y, hydra120, and a few other goodies.
Before the question's start, Yes I have ran It one time....and Yes its probably the fastest boat Iv ever had my hands on

I was really hoping that my GPS would come in the mail today but as usuall eBay sellers take there time.

If it comes in Ill get a video with the speeds as the boat goes out.

I didn't really have the time today to do alot of adjusting work with the strut and I didn't want to risk going too fast and the Turn fin bracket come flying off lol.

All I can say is WOW. Its fast, Im not sure how fast... but in the 50's..

Ill try for a video in the morning.

I was gonna say, that looks like a 935 and if it is this setup is not going to last very long (if you are running a long time).
      :::::::::::::::. It's NEVER fast enough! .:::::::::::::::

Thats a 937. And I made one pass with that prop, wasnt too great.

I then swapped over to an m445, then made two hard passes wide open around 5-6 seconds, brought it back in and checked everything... temps were good, never passed 128 degrees, of course I didnt run it that long.

There was a reason for that as I mentioned, I didnt want to crack the hull were the Turn Fin bracket was..Cuz this beast flys! Very quiet and smooth as well.. I absolutly love my Neu motor. Good running system in the boat. Programing is a breeze, and speeds are great.

Anyways, I did happen to get the Hull beefed up behind the TF bracket. I used 1/8" CF and used fine fiberglass with 5-10min Apoxy and resin.

Iv also used a diffrent TF. I dont see the need for that Grim fin thats got so much tuck.. and so big...lol Ill make one of my own in a few days.

Ill post more pic's in a bit. I know the ones I posted the night I had the boat wasnt all that great.

Did you make that turn fin from scratch or cut down the AQ one?

No, This one came from my A-Z Racing hydro, I didnt have a smaller one but this one, so I swapped it over. Im not to much for running turn fins with tuck in them on the UL-1.

My last UL-1 had a TF that had no Tuck at all and worked just as good..

I agree. Not sure the tuck is good. If the fin isn't dead straight, the tuck becomes a diving or lifting plane. Does A-Z have a website? I'm not familiar with them.

Turn fins seem to be rediculously priced for such a simple item. Somebody, somewhere could make some reasonable profits making a wide variety of types and sizes of TF's at a reasonable price.

Oh, yeah, I have seen the A-Z stuff. Looks like a nice turn fin. That's all I'll say. Haha.

If somebody that's a guru on turn fins would come up with a bunch of designs, sizes, etc. for various types of boats like Hydros, Riggers, etc., I could see about manufacturing them at one of the factories I use in China. They are always asking me what we need in the way of products.

I recently searched for some turn fins. Not much to choose from and they are outrageously priced in most cases. I did manage to get a pretty nice one from Horizon for a reasonable price but everyone else out there is a bit nutty over their fins for such a simple product!

Anyone? Some cad drawings would be great.

Correct. I have made a few, If I had a CNC machine and a 2 year at machine shop at my Collage Id spend the $6,000 to buy Manual CNC.

My bud had one that him and a friend went in together and purchased...

It never gets used, some of the manual machines are hard to work with, and just to build Turnfins... thats hard to make your 6 grand back just selling TF's...lol

                      anyways.

I ran my UL-1 again about 30minutes ago.. OMG I absolutly love this boat.
Correct me if Im wrong but I ran my UL-1 about 6-7minutes on 7500mah's...

Did about 10-15 oval laps almost wide open 88% of the time except turns...

and the Hydra never got above 145 degrees...

the motor was checked one time, has no water jacket...and set at 159 degrees along with a few other things checked...

The CC wires were at 124 d/F

                      Lipo's sat around 100-114 d/F

                      and the rx/tx 2s was at 99d/F...

So I have seen some hydras get up to 166 degrees...

Due to my setup the boat would be unbelievable with 6s...but then would start seeing many issues in heat. Probably need a Hydra 240.

All I saw on their website was the Aquacraft turn fin. I'll look again.

I love my stock UL-1 too after doing all Darin's mods to the turn fin, etc. The boat runs and handles great. Too bad the hull quality couldn't be a bit better. I suspect AQ will continue to improve the boat in future releases. It sure is a winner as far as price vs. performance is concerned.

I work with one company that has 30 CNC machines, CNC lathes and screw machines, etc. They are always looking for projects! You are right though, gotta be quite a bit of quantity involved.
