IS it loos on the motor or the flexshaft? I thought you said you had to drill out the motor end? .130 cable's pretty heavy for that little boat. Usually people run .098 or 1/8" flexshaft.Mini Cat Racing USA

Loose on the motor. I didn't drill the motor, that was HOTWATER. The boat kit is designed for the .130.

Just took apart cable and added heatshrink to go over the stuffing tube and strut. Leak is fixed! Next I noticed that the right sponson may have a tad of toe in. I removed the turnfin and put it in the vice and tweaked it a tad to the right. It looks much better. Let's see if the lipo's finish charging before the wind picks up.

Hey Alvin!
Sorry to hear about the problems you ran into on your run...
The first thing I would do, is remove the flex shaft from your boat. Next, take a peice of Med. sized fuel/ water tubing, cut a small peice of it off and put it over your stuffing tube (inside the boat). Once you get it to slip over the stuffing tube, put a drop of CA on it to hold it there. The tubing will act like a seal on your flexshaft and not let any water up through the stuffing tube...
Next, while your flex is out, put a peice of shrink tubing between your stuffing tube and your strut. Once it is shrunk on, put a drop of CA on the stuffing tube shrink side only...that way the strut will be free to move in or out of the shrink tubing for any adjustments...
I have not had a drop of water in mine at all after my any of my runs.
As far as your boat turning left on the straights...that is pretty normal, but not a huge amount of right trim is needed. Is your rudder kicked back at all? It does not like to be in any other positions other than straight up and down to the transom.
here are some pics for you...

Your motor must have a 2.5mm shaft? Sorry about the confusion with HOTWATER. Lots of people building the little renegade. I'm surprised about the .130 shaft but then I'm sure you are correct!

sailr...the shaft on the motor is 3mm...the FLEX is .130.........MY motor coupler needed to be drilled out just a tad... It is just fine and runs very smoothly...Originally posted by sailr View PostYour motor must have a 2.5mm shaft? Sorry about the confusion with HOTWATER. Lots of people building the little renegade. I ordered the wrong connector then. I know I read somewhere that said the motor shaft is 1/8th. Oh well it works ok for now.Originally posted by HOTWATER View Postsailr...the shaft on the motor is 3mm...the FLEX is .130.........MY motor coupler needed to be drilled out just a tad... On to the good news. The boat ran great this morning. No water in the hull, and I was able to trim the rudder back straight. I put the turn fin in the vice and used a big crescent wrench to twist the turnfin a tad right. That worked perfect. Now that the boat is working well I get some radar numbers and I know I am ready for a faster prop. I will also try 2s so my 2 and a half year old can drive it. I let him stear it this morning while I worked the throttle and he loves it. It is his "Baby Boat" afterall, according to him. LOL
Thanks for all of your input,
Alvin

Your boat should track very straight, so your rudder correction should be close to none. I had the same problems with mine at first, just keep adjusting the strut in slow increments, but stay close to the recomemded setup angle, it will take some playing with to get it just right, if you search through deigoboys thead, he has a nice pic of what the angle should look like. And remember this boat only turns right, so turning left don't work too well. Congrats on its mayden voyage! Its always nice to get it back instead of exploding the esc on the first outing, and you didn't have to rescue it.Twin power =

Good job Alvin! Glad you're getting things right with it!! No water is really good! Just watch the runtimes (heat). I have a small temp checker that I use right after every run. I point and click it at the ESC, the motor and the lipos. It is really good know what average temps are on a run...kind of lets you know if something is wrong or if you are overpropped...Originally posted by alvinsmith75 View PostI ordered the wrong connector then. Got it bad.
I was sitting in my truck today, in the rain, driving my rigger. This thing is so much fun. The water was too rough and it is hilarious when these critters go airborne. No telling how they will fly or land. Can't wait for some calmer water to really pen her up for a few laps. I would love to see 5 or 6 of these going around all at one time. Will get video asap.
