got some wiring done today.....got the plugs on the motor and esc.....we tried using my little 40watt soldering iron....hardly got it hot enough....then we took out the blow torch lol...it actually worked out quite well. We couldnt get the harness finish though...started raining and getting dark (has to solder outside...the garage is filled up....) Probably will finish it up tomorrow....my friends gunna bring his 120 -140 watt soldering iron...should work a lot better with the harness....also epoxied in a little esc tray from the extra ABS cut out for the hatch

Rest of the wiring finished.....dry tested everything
...they worked great .....
also did a tub test and no leaks after 1 minute fully loaded......
now the top of the hull is on and im letting it dry overnight...
flex shaft is lubed, almost everything is ready to go....i just need to wire the cooling tubes and put the antenna through the hull tonight...ill also top out the Tx batts and put some new batts in for the Rx...

tomorrow ill top of the lipos and take her on her maiden run ...ill do a 1 minute temp test at first too....

cant wait to get it going....im not sure if ill be able to video it, but ill try to get someone to help me with that.....

only thing im not sure on is programming the remote.....it didnt come with a programming manual, but it seems to work fine right now? i wouldnt need to adjust it any, unless maybe the timing needs to be set?

The reason for the cooling tube sticking way out is that i havent cut it down to length yet....in the process of getting it through the hull now actually....then i have to do the same with the Rx antenna...then find the right CG with the batts in and lay down the velcro and its all set

well i have a video camera actually...its got a little memory card (though its a tape-recorder)...the quality is pretty bad, but it'll take a video...only need someone to tape it....hope all goes well tomorrow

also just got the watercooling rigged....when the silicon dries ill do a pressure test to check for leaks....

i also need to find an antenna tube, as i dont have one.....do you think i could maybe just tape it flat along the deck instead of straight up in a tube? how much would the range suffer?

Edit: also those plugs are pretty tough to get apart (some of them anyway)....one of them is so bad im afraid im going to rip off the shrink tubing or break it free from the solder....

the throttle it also pretty sharp...the slightest tap and its going pretty quick....vibrates too, but it probably because it not in the water...i hope....the driveline seems smoth when spinning it by hand....

Ill try to find a programming manual for the esc so i can see what i can do about it...

erm....new problem....

i had the servo trimmed out right, but it was turning the wrong way, but i couldnt figure out how to reverse it....i finally got it figured out, but now i cant trim it out enough to get it straight, and i cant access the screw that hold down the servo horn either....the only thing i could think if is maybe trying to rebend the pushrod so it would have the rudder straight in the position the servo is already in.....ill try it..hopefully it works

EDIT: success....got it fixed.....whew....and to think my other option was to take apart the hull again and then dismount the servo O_O

also the epoxy seems to have not completely cured...it still sticky, although its far past its posted curing time....its still strong enough to hold the hull and deck together however....i guess the mix wasnt close enough to 50/50, even though i used the two part bottle that should disperse the two parts in a (close to) perfect 50/50 ratio....

took it out on its first run today...although i only was going for a minute, i can tell this thing is fast...probably overpowered for the size of the hull, but i figured that before anyway.....

but i ran into a problem early into the run and pulled it in.....turns out the motor coupler's set screw broke lose and it slid down the motor shaft a bit, causing the prop nut to tighten even more and slid the drive dog up the prop shaft....pretty much moving the extrie flex assembly a 1/4" further out....everything was fine tho....the motor was just a little warm, as well as the esc....and the batts were still ambient tempurature....not surprised tho, for a hull this size is probably nothing at all to push....

but when i did have it running, it wheelied a lot and spun out...im going to move the batts further up in the hull, and add some weight up front too....(the strut is parallel to the keel already...if it still spins out with the added weight, then ill adjust it...

also, not a drop of water was inside

couldnt get a video, no one there too shoot it unfortunately...ill try to get someone to for the second run, but for now i have some tweaking to do.

sure did....although i think maybe i need a larger hull for the setup eventually...like an OM 26 or something like that.....for now ill stick with this though..

well i ran the boat again thismorning, with a better battery placement (more foreward)....it performed a lot better, but i still couldnt give it more than 1/2 - 3/4 throttle with out it going crazy.....the torque roll would just make it cut into a turn or flip around...

the water was pretty rough tho, so it was porpoising a lot....

after the run i temp tested the motor, esc, and batts....motor and esc were hot (enough i couldnt keep my finger on it for more than 5 seconds), but the batts were just a little over ambient tempurature......the reason the esc was hot is probably because i was holding it at 1/2 throttle most of the time...anything more and it would be too fast to control...

a little battery mount i made was also knocked loose.....i probably need CA to hold it down, as epoxy doesent hold too well on ABS

yeah i roughed up the abs pretty good...

it wont matter for a while now, for the boat wont be running anytime soon...

took it out for its 3rd run....and i guess that little vibration i was worried about was really something to well...worry about....vibrated the prop shaft (including the prop, drive dog, prop nut) right off the end of the flex shaft....i guess it wasnt balanced well....and why i wished they sold carbon props smaller than 40mm that werent only for threaded 4mm shafts....a lot cheaper to replace if lost

luckily i do have the unassembled flex shaft that came with the strut/rudder combo so i can still make another.....

motor and esc were warm, batts were ambient tempurature...only had it out for about 3 mins so...

and i probably do need a bigger hull, the motor is wayy too much for the little 21"....i sure underestimated the power of BL (and lipos >_> )....
