    thanks rcboatfan

the water pickup has been remounted as well to make it more upright because (i didnt notice it before) the tube was pushed against the strut/rudder mount and wouldnt allow me to slide the cooling tube down it far enough.

Its a fun little build, although i am running into minor problems here and there, their getting fixed....atleast ill be ready for them when i do my next build

Could anyone give me an probable amp rating for my setup?

just to recap: Feigao 540 8S, 2s2p lipo (probably 5000mAh 36C rated...they would be 18C rated individually), X435 prop, 100amp hextronic esc...since its only a 21" ABS hull, its probably still a little overpowered so the amp draw should be too bad...but im thinking maybe the esc wont handle the amp draw too well. Especially since it will be uncooled (for now anyway)....

I wont be devastated if the esc blows since its only 30$, but i would like to avoid that as much as possible....

the charger, esc, and power source just came in...tested the charger, works fine so far (testing it out on this old batt back from an rc plane transmitter).....The ESC looks to be in good condition as well, but i cant say anything until i get my batts in and have it all ready to go

I think the Hex 100 will be fine!

ok...i think for the batts ill get a pair of Poly RC PQ-2200XP 2S lipos and parallel them...will give me a decent mAh and the doubled C rating should be enough to handle what the motor will pull....

Im surprised how well this build is going together...my last couple were much more troublesome...cant wait to get it in the water.....theres only a little bit more work to de before its ready to go...

              EDIT::

i see that there is a second set of wires coming out of the lipos im planning to buy. (hyperion tabs?)....im guessing this is for balancing but since i have very limited knowledge of lipos, im not where what exactly i need to buy to balance the pack and where i can buy it....

i see my charger has some plugs on the side of it as well that look like they are for these tabs, does the plug on the lipo connect directly to my charger, or does it require some extra part? also, do i need to run some sort of balancer on the lipo when its in the boat as well?

EDIT:::: well i did some more extensive searching and answered those questions....however it seems that my charger has JST balancing plugs, but the batt im planning to buy uses Hyperion plugs....does anyone know where i can buy a hyperion to JST adaptor?

Im trying to come up with some insperation for a radio box or some other means to waterproof/resist the servo, Rx, and esc.....

Im thinking i should use that conformal 270 type epoxy on the ESC and fashion a small radio box for the servo and Rx.....Although that might be a little difficult considering the confined space i have to work with....ill wait until the batts get here tho before i make a radio box...i need to find out how much room ill have with the batts in it and where i will have to locate them to get the CG right....

I could also plasti-dip the servo and make a much smaller radio box for just the Rx...that will save a lot of room as well....

Batts are on their way, and i just ordered some small final parts (connectors, shrink wrap and things of that sort)

Ive also built a servo mount from some Aluminum L bend and i found an old pushrod connect it to the rudder....

essentially i should have everything to finish it very soon...

Ive decided to not build a radio box...if the hull is sealed well enough it shouldnt let any water get in......i didnt think i would have too much room for anything but a balloon, and its more hassle than its worth...

The Lipo's and other gear both came in today. I have everything i need now to get this boat running. going to be epoxying the stuffing tube in and mounting the servo. Im going to wait till tomorrow to do the soldering. Ill try to get a friend to come over to help with that. So far my previous attempts with soldering have turned out pretty bad so ill have help me out a bit before i start messing with anything important.

Also Pat for RClipos is a pretty generous guy....if you check out my post in the thread RC lipos.com over in the question and answer forum

i will soon....at the moment nothing more is done except the boot for the pushrod to the servo has been installed.....

the sapce inside the hull is getting really tight....since i cant mount the esc diectly over the motor (because theres not enough head room for it, and it would block the cooling tubes going to the mount)....im going to have to mount it in front of the motor as the motor wires wont reach any other way...

another question, ill be running the two packs paralleled, but both of them have balancing plugs, but i only have one balancing port and adaptor on the charger.....this means that only one pack will be balanced if i charge both of them at the same time in parallel? I was planning to hardwire both packs together, but if this means that only one pack can be balanced at a time, then should i charge one at a time? If so, ill leave both packs seperate and make a parallel harness to hook them up to....
