good idea.

great description. you definitely want a "paint only" room and lots of patience. great work wolf, I hope to be able to see the beauty in real life as we streak down the strait away.
As for props, what motors are you using? Those are 2700 KV puppies on 15V so about 40K rpms - holy canoli batman. I would be tempted to start with either X438 or X640s. Unfortunately we are limited by which sizes are counter rotating. For my build, I chose the KV motors based on the props available - 442 and 447 and bigger. So, its a good thing you have two Hydra 240s you will need them. Looks like you are pretty much stuck with 442s, unless you go CF which come in 40mm also.
With my 1500 KV motors, I like the flexibility of doing 4S (22K rpms) and bigger props for more scale speeds and 5-6S (28K and 33K rpms) and the smaller props for the ballistic crowd spraying lets get outta dodge runs.
I have two pairs of 442s with Egneg getting sharpened and balanced as pairs for the truder.
Have you done any float tests? I would like to see how she sits. How close to maiden voyage?"Look good doin' it"

Ahhhh, im speaking with egneg via pm's and finding out about my options? None... 442's its gonna have to be , i was thinking the same as you. 438/440's but i guess theyre not made in r/ handers... L a m e ! ! ! ! ! ! C.f? Im not sure they would handle the weight and flex of the boat and rpm...i knew id be pushing it with this set up so thats why 240's were a must and thats all im waiting for to get her wet!!havent done a bathtub test yet but actually thought about it yesterday. I could simulate the 240's w/ some 200 amp hi models...well, egneg is going to do me some 442's detounged( as his suggestion)..im hoping this isnt going to be too hot of a setup!!!

OOOOO will it be hot! You will need to add some flames on the bow and fire proof suites for the dudes driving.
Now for a question: How bad would it be to use two Lhand props? Is it super critical to go counter rotating? I just wonder how bad the prop walk would be on a big rig like this. Have you read anything?
With the counter rotating, which side does the L hand go? My instinct would put it on the left side, but what have you read/heard on this?
Go for it, get the bath filling and take pictures too!"Look good doin' it"

Well ill run the props inward so the lefthand prop will go on the right side.. I would think two lefties would create a huge torque roll also with the power it will have..?how about the cnc guy? Cant we have some right and left hand props cnced...???

JESSE THIS IS ONE I COULD FIND QUICK, BUT THERES A FEW OTHER THINGS AROUND HERE THAT HAVE BETTR EXPLANATIONS, I.E OUTWARD PROPS = MORE STBILITY, INWARD= SPEED!THIS IS A QUOTE FROM BONEWAR ON HIS BUILD..." Calcagno 45 at the moment I'm running counter rotating inward x 442. I tried outward spinning props but the boat did not like them , made her real hard to turn and seam to lift the back of the hull . I also have tried a set of x440 both left rotation , same again the cat did not like them, i had to compensate 35-40% rudder just to get her to drive straight. So i will be running inward rotation . I've got a few very nice props to try out , so i will keep you guys informed how they turn out. BONEWAR "

I did a trial with that one 4 blade CNC I got and it cavitated to high hell, not even onto a plane. Granted I only tried one set up on my DF33, maybe it would work on a cat or hydro
So unless we have them cnc'd after one of the tried and true guys, like X640, M445 and others, I don't think we would be very happy captains. I don't know how the cnc process is, but if you could reproduce a left hand prop, then in theory you should just be able to invert the bad boy and be makin twin roost before you know it.
Peter? is this possible/feasible? Sounds like a really important application and I bet there would be a slew of interested captains out there..."Look good doin' it"

yeah, ive got 3, 3/blade cnc's and they all cavitated on my drag cat and monos... Still havent used them. Bonewar was suppost to try his out on the maritimo, but havent heard back from him. He was gone for work for a while and was going to let me know how they worked when he got back... Where is that guy??Originally posted by jesse j View Posti did a trial with that one 4 blade cnc i got and it cavitated to high hell, not even onto a plane.
