Angle left or right normally no some saw set ups might do it??
But straight out with adjustment for angle up and down.

A straight shaft would not be advised. You will not be able to adjust the trim angle

If you can afford it I would go with a Neu motor and lipos, best investment.
As far as the kb I am useing a 8xl but a 9xl will work also...

I would suggest doing some research of the build threads and see what others are useing for their set ups....

The best way to learn this hobby is read read read. And use the searh bar at the topof the page....
There are many possible set ups for a 36 in mono. It is hard to pick just one that works.
Then there is budget. Many think scratch building is the cheap way to go, it is not by far the cheapest way. If this is your 1st boat I would do alot more research before going much farther...

A 36 in mono can cost a few hundred to well over a thousand. Do you have all the support equip chargers cells ect. If not there is several hunfred more to spend.... This is a grea hobby but it is NOT a cheap one, it can be done on a budget but not without alot of reading....

this is my first build but i have been into rc trucks for two years now so i have all the batterys and chargers. i just wanted to stay with nimh because i just bought 120$ charger that only does nimh but lipo might be pretty wild after all this is a winter build and there is christmas :)

I would do some research on hull building, there is alot to be done and if not done correctly it will show up later in the build. You may also want to do some mods specific to your tastes or set up.. Getting the g/c correct is important and is best figured out in the early stages so that you can adjust for it later in the build...
Read up on sealing the wood and the use of fiberglass if you are not versed in it and plan on useing in your build.

Read up on the various types of epoxies and their uses. Some are better than others.
