ok looking inside the strut mount I found that there is an rubber o ring inside , that is y the shaft that goes in the strut haves that black color on it,
it dose whip off with soap an water, I thought the cable an the shaft was soldered together , but Steve said that they r glued together.

Sure looks like something was getting hot, really hot! Based on the color change on the stub shaft. Also, I am not sure what you mean by rubber O ring? Can you show a picture of your strut and stuffing tube set up?

            Did you notice any binding?

            Later,
            Mike

Hi Long, ok inside the strut where the brass bushing is there is a rubber O ring inside the strut, I took a paper towel an soapy water an wiped the black film off.
heres a pic. also I see that this was glued together, not silver soldered.S7300997.jpg

They must have only recently started doing that. Bad O-ring.

Based on the picture it looks like a lead bushing... Unless there is an "o-ring" behind the lead bushing...

darryl--get some loctite#603 retaining compound. clean your prop shaft pieces and using the compound put them together.let stand for 24 hours and than clean the outside area where any compound had dried on it. clean it good. i have used this system for years,no come aparts.

darryl--make sure the outside is clean of all the compound on the shaft-before running it in the boat. yes it will hold them together--thats why you must clean the outside of the joint before using the shaft again.
