I have been looking ( http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...p8mm-2&cat=136 ) any thoughts? I thought if I ran 4 3s packs doing 6s then parallel the packs I could save money while using in my cars, distribute weight, as well as getting longer run time

ofc u both are right, so far i have 3 seakings 180, burned first one pretty easy together with leo3674'1900, repaired for 10$ and still works nice on 4s :) , but according to my small (compaired to Yours) experience, now i would have bought bigger ESC's, cause now on Genesis Offshore 6S x442 and leo 4082'1600 iam hitting 200A very often, but i suppose on 2 engines it splits differently... :)

the t180s are amazing escs for the money, no question. Kent and I have run leopard 4082 1600kv with seakings right kent? Anyway I was getting mid 70s in a less than efficient hull and the temperatures were always under 100 degrees. 8s is just overkill per side. Keep her light you'll be rewarded in the turns. Heavy means harder crashes and more drama when things go wrong. There are quite a few build threads for this boat I'd stick with proven setups people have gone well over 100 mph with t180 escs, if you have doubts just add a mean cap bank

@ Matt by stepping up I mean larger props or pitched props for more speed and more headache lol. 4050's are plenty big for that hull and someone new to electric boats. You can easy get in the 90's with that setup (based on the power) but before you get there, have some fun and drive casualy.

@ Maciek, I don't get the part about 6s being nothing special? You can get 115mph+ out of 6s so why not special. No point of spending too much on ESC's at this point, as there is still a chance they could be used incorrectly and blow. Yes eventually a set of nice ESC's but believe me, the 180's can take a lot more then many would think. In this case here cheap don't equal bad! I would be happy to part with a set of 25035's MGM at $900 but why at this stage?

yep motors will be cheaper but in this sport 6s is nothing special, and sooner or later U will have to upgrade ESC's too, thats why i think changing ESCs is better, especially when u have 2 unused for resell right now

your saying go w/4050's? what do you mean step up? start with small props and work from there? what would that max out at w/6s

I think SF240's would be plenty!! On 8s at 1300kv amp draw won't be too high. Motors are plenty big also for 47+ props. How ever in your case I would change the motors rather than the ESC's. TP 4050's at around 2000kv or less then you can run on 42 props and step up if you desire more speed. The 2 motors vs 2 HV ESC's are a fair bit cheeper. The 180's are quite good ESC's if you stay at 6s max

that sucks. I just received from rcbidder. should I be looking at hydra 240s or swordfish 300 for most reliability and able to take some abuse from a novice

minimal RPM for ur props is 25000 so its gonna work (ur setup 6x3,7x1300=28800), optimal for racing is 34-37K so u need more KV on motors or better ESC's to work on 8s, cant do anything else, i would focus on ESC's., sell old ones buy new ones :)

Yep, still have everything for that boat. I would run it on 6s max, for the time being. If you one day want to run saw then the 8s might just be what you need. But having the seaking 180 you are limited to 6s. Something in the 1600-2000kv would be a good choice at this point

I would like to be between 65=85 on a regular day. what do I have to run with this set up? 6s per side? 10 s per side? 10 s shared in parallel?

Are you planning to run 6s? If yes 1300kv will get you going but not very fast. I can help you with carbon work and templates for drives.
