It's tough to get it to look good with the extra height that I added for the batts and that ugly nose pc. Here's a few more pics. That extra sanding really paid off. Surface finish is awesome. Gonna sand one more time and top coat.

Apparently this thing was waaaaaayyy too nice. Man oh man did I ever mess up the top coat. Prepped for hours, cleaned the surface meticulously, and even used a professional paint booth at the tech shop! Not sure what happened, the air line got kinked and lost air pressure and a glob of paint came out. What a mess!!!!!!!
Looks like I'll be sanding again.

Hard to believe you can come back from a mess like that. I wish I had a 'before' shot. I had actually wiped it with cheese cloth while wet to try to clean it up (don't try this!). There were hairs sticking out of it and everything. I had an audience too.....at the tech shop. Embarrassing. Anyhow, some sandpaper and some polishing compound sure did magic. It truly does need another coat to correct it, but it's just a toy boat. Nothing is perfect (except the black pearl).Attached Files

That's how I do all of mine now. It looks cleaner as well, and there is usually more room for it to fully extend and compress, since the rod is usually longer inside the hull.Originally posted by detox View PostPlacing rubber boot inside of hull will protect it from damage.
NICE build up, Shooter! I have a new Whip 40 kit out in the garage (Thank you, Brian Buaas!!) and I'm still trying to decide which way to go with it, since I also have a ML Boatworks GP335 and another Sport 40 hull, which is already setup for Nitro...Darin E. Jordan - Renton, WA
