Not yet, too embarrassed. Once I get the bottom all ready to glue up I'll start to post. I had TP Power attempt to make me a clone of a 1527 1Y, shhhh.... 8mm shaft n' all. I'll be watched by them in June in MI, Team TP, . Friday I should get some more work done on it.

Made some progress. I have the stuffing tube made. Running 0.187" flex with teflon. It necks down (soldered) to 1/4" at the strut. I'm not going to mount the stuffing tube until she's painted. Gee, I wish I knew about these nice little exacto saws before now! Had this done in seconds. Two holes, a few saw strokes, some lead-in filing at the entrance and exit, and WHAM BAM DONE!

This steering set-up has virtually NO slop.....only what is in the servo gears. It pulls to turn right (rod in tension). The rod is 3mm in diameter. Threaded at both ends (this wasn't easy and required some heat to thread). Anyone have better methods of threading stainless of this size?? I've seen split dies out there, but never tried them. Cut a pocket in the sidewall and mounted the servo. (note to self.....cut this pocket with the laser cutter on scratch build boat)

Only thing left now is paint and finish, I think. My CG is roughly 1" behind the sponson backs. Anyone know if this is close??

            HOR sells it, lol...

On a more serious note: Shooter (forgot your first name again ), if you want a stuffing tub job done before you paint just use the next size up K&S Tubing as a stuffing tube holder. I just use a piece long enough to go through the hull and set up the drive line with motor & strut installed and setup to glue but, I only glue the short piece that goes through the hull and stays there. I did this on the PTSS, my old Whip 21 and I'll do it on my 40 Whip. Works greeat in cats too.

This way you can remove the stuffing tube any time you want to. If you want to repaint, then just disassemble.

Brian Blazer also recommends a flat bottom strut for Whiplash's....

                Pete,

Exactly !! That's how to do it ; since I stumbled on doing it that way my stuffing tube entry/exits have become way more sano

Also I second the teflon tube config; quiter and less harmonics. Nice build

Not much harmonics to speak of if you use 1/4" cable like I'm doing. There is a gent in Canada that swears by using the thickest flex cable you can get away with and since I built a 40" mono with 1/4" cable for 6S running I'm stuck on it. He uses 1/4" on everything he runs except Limited classes and he uses 3/16" on that. It runs so quiet.
Just my overkill nature on some parts

While oiginally using .187 on limited rigs, they add a little more parasitic drag on the driveline then a .150 and given the dicey lifespan of the current crop of Ltd motors most of the SoCal racers are using .150/teflon just to feel safer.

Using your strong index finger, hang your hull using finger at center of turnfin bracket between both bolt holes. Hull should hang level or slightly stern heavy. Slightly stern heavy will help hull turn better. Too much stern weight will cause boat to spin out in turns and/or fly over.

Running strut too deep will cause boat to run wet. Start low (1/2" between stern and setup board) then work up. If hull is too loose and wants to fly over, raise the strut a tad or add weight up front.

McMaster Carr. Make sure you get the 'easy to machine stainless'. It has sulfur. BTW - I figured out how to thread the stainless rod easier (without heat). It's called a NEW DIE. One that is actually sharp. lol. Cuts like butter now. Wish I would have thought of that earlier.

Yes, speedmaster rudder and strut. The bracket was machined out of aluminum. If it wasn't so labor intensive, I'd make more of them. Maybe if I could use a water jet or CNC I could cut down on labor time.

Did you start with a billet piece or did you start with 1/4" U channel aluminum?

That bracket is ultra-tasty. I'd love to see it commercially available

The Insane FE30 setup is similar for Sport 20 apps (minus the rudder kick-up feature)

Well, you did a nice job with it. Was thinking that you might have made it yourself...never saw anything like that from speedmaster...

Looks like I will just go with the normal Speedmaster hardware/brackets...

                                Thanks Sir, much appreciated!
