        Denatured alcohol works wonders for removing toasted esc residue. A clothes dryer fabric softener sheet inside the hull for a few days helps get rid of the smell s well.

          Thanks for the reminder Bill,I need to get more of it as it all got used in the last "smoke up". By denatured you just mean rubbing alcohol right?

                There's actually a big difference in denatured alcohol and rubbing (isopropyl) alcohol. The denatured can usually be found in a building supply house like Lowes

                        Found some info on FC forum and apparently it is not a good idea to run over 100 amps with these outrunners(90 even)so prop down it will be.What to do about ESC's now though

                          Eleven pounds may have been too heavy but, not on 6S and 447's. I ran the 1400kv in a heavy (3.5lb empty) Promise hobby 30" cat T180esc set to auto and i think stock 15* timing turning a 450 D/T I used a 1/4" thick water cooled heat sink.

                          I only run timed runs of 6-7 laps on large ovals. It came back hot but, certainly not burnt and cooled off fairly quick after run and able to do 3 heats in a day. That was with 5S2P 3 year old 25C Hyperion cells going around 50mph.

                          I'm cheap and sometimes lazy so, I just plug in calibrate and play.

                          From that video I'm feeling your pain and can smell that boat from here. If you can find Eagle one all wheel & tire cleaner it's jiffy for smell and soot. I can't get it up in Canada anymore??? So I use 99% alc. first and then a solution from Norwex that eliminates all odurs. My GF does marketing for Norwex products.

                          The 1717's will not burn up.

                            Thanks! After researching all of the EKOS threads I found if strange that no one had tried an HV setup. Most if not all had gone with 4s batts and high kv motors, so to be a bit different I went with the following;
                            Leopard 2190 kv motors (27v 45amp max)
                            Two 3s 50c 3800mah packs in series
                            Turnigy 120 amp esc's
                            .078 wire drives from Jeff Wholt
                            4mm thrust bearings
                            Custom strut bushings (It kept spitting the flange bearings)
                            In that vid I was using Octura 442's that have been balanced/sharpened but still need to be detounged
                            And a few other odds and ends.

                              I have a 41" fantasm to build with a pair of 2200kv 4074 SSS motors and T180's to run on 4S to 6S on 442's to start.
