Not yet bro! hehehe! I just put the FE projects at the back burner and dipped into the dark side. Now I'm caught in the middle but the funds got sucked-up by the dark side bro. lols! I'm slowly gathering the parts needed for the FE's with what little funds I can get. OMG! I'm not in any hurry, I'm just waiting for great deals on parts. hahaha!
Next build: 37" Komodo

So with this weather I am charging forth on this.So should get quite a bit done this weekend. When I plugged everything on with servo tape I decided that the rudder should be back a little more than my supplied parts would provide.I like to have the rudder inline with the props from side view.
So I had to make this spacer here out of 3/8,2X2 aluminium bar stock

I also had to smooth the rudder extension for this rather broad mounting surface

And this is the look installed.

Because I had to this the area to get a flat surface I got out the 4mm sheet of CF and cut a backing piece out and played and sanded it until it fit nice and snug so that my mounting bolts could fit

So this is the view from inside

And I then put in some reliefs for the backing washers.

Sorry about the lack of flash but on one of my outings I seemed to have broken it.

So this is how the tubes come out of the hull. They are extended for flex support within the stinger.

Now I am having an issue wrapping my head around my rudder cables. They want to stay wide whereas I would like to mount my servo centrally.

I'm just not sure about the bends here

I could probably make some support brackets to even the bends out a bit.Or do a cantalever using the rear bolt extensions on the ESC box.

I've got 4" at the hull and bear in mind they are pointed outward there. You don't have any issue with all that uncovered cable in yours?
I could do a custom servo horn as Kent did in his on post #146.Just sweep it back instead of straight across.Last edited by srislash; 10-28-2012, 08:47 AM.

Yep.I have one of those rudders for my 41" cat and I'm still not sure how I'm going to deal with it. I was thinking of putting the cables in aluminum tubing and bending it in 1" on both sides to bring it into the middle, then 4" is only 2"... wide enough for the servo. and then building a CF support for the tubes. Also am concerned about water coming in there too. You could probably use rubber cap with a small hole in it for the cable,, or shrink wrap the end for water intrusion. Scale look is cool but a PITA.
I like yur spacer Idea...I did the same thing. Almost have too have it to allow the rudder push - pull enough room to move.
This is what I came up with on mine.
100_8348.jpg I built some cooling pickups in it. I'm going to shorten and move the water pickups into the center more inline with the rudder. This setup works well on the king of shaves twin.
Hope it helps.

Or you could bring the cables thru the transom and into bell cranks, then hook solid rods from the other side of the cranks to the servo.... You follow that?

PS, just another cleaner idea imo.....

Why not just make the servo horn wider ?
Instead of bending the cables in to it,
Would make for a straight run.

Shawn in my hpr I got a 3 inch piece of this. its shifter cable liner for road bikes ( pedal bikes ) it has a near perfect fit that will allow no water at all to come in. I have no heat shrink tubing or anything else to seal it. I just used a drop of ca to hold in place. The wire needs to be kinda free moving otherwise the cables fight each othermy youtube videos http://www.youtube.com/user/chris81983?feature=mhee
