    Newbie Rebuild 32" Godspeed Cat

Picked up this boat used, cheap. Here is what I am working with.
    Tacon 3674 1300KV Motor
    Sky Wing 150A ESC
    Park BEC
    (2) 3s 5000mah 40c

    2012-06-09_23-19-38_519.jpg2012-06-09_23-24-02_323.jpg

First I removed the running gear and the balsa wood mount it came with.

Next I laid CF to strengthen the hull and make it look better. I also mounted the motor and ESC.
New stuffing tube and flex shaft. Also ran the water lines.

Not a lot of room for the batteries.......but I got them in there.

Rained last night so I put some decals on, nothing special but looks ok.

You can start with an m445 or similar. What kind of speed and run time are you after?

Don't think I can hit 50mph with this setup, but mid 40's would be ok. I did test it late last night between the rain drop. Ran a 40mm plastic prop to test temps, all ok. Then put on a 45mm plastic. Ran fast but a lot of porpoising at higher speeds. Got a couple passes and was just going to bring her in to check temps and I spun the prop. Rookie mistake, forgot the lock nut

I'll adjust the strut angle and try again. CG is at 30% from the rear of the sponsons. Do you think I'm on the right path?

Here is a short vid, sorry about the quaility. My phone usully takes pretty good videos, but I think the low light was messing with it. That combined with a shaky camera woman....

Ran the Cat last night with a new 45mm plastic test prop and slight negative strut angle. Still some porpoising, cg at 33%. Ran 40.83mph with GPS. Temps on the motor were around 150 and ESC was 160 I'm a little concerned. Also noticed that when running all out, I don't see any water flow. Slow down a bit and it's working great. Anyway it was a little to dark for video and after running around for a while I hit somthing on the other side of the pond and broke the servo arm causing her to run up the embankment and launch into the air getting some serious air time..maybe I should take up flying??

No damage to the hull and the break-away nylon screw in the rudder did its job. At least I got 6 minutes out of this prop....

Nice rebuild! When driving fast the water from the cooling will become a spray and therefore
Barely visible. You said you were driving in bad light conditions that will make it even more difficult to see.

Fixed her up and ran again tonight with a 40mm prop just to make sure everything is working ok. Ran alright, but still some porpoising. CG now at 35% and still cannot shake that slight bounce. Have new props on the way, some different sizes. Will play with the strut angle some more also.

Here is the video of tonight's run, nothing special and definitely not braking any speed records...

Try offset rudder, works with the Geiko boats

Maybe try some adjustable trim tabs on the transom.
At least you'll have something easy to work with, rather than complicated propellers.
