    Shockwave 36 FE Rebuild

I decided to redo a ProBoat Shockwave 36 that I had bought on eBay from an OSE member that had converted it to Electric. I have had the boat for about 4 months and only ran it a few times before I blew up the ESC. Being a newbie I did not know then that you can't put 6S through an ESC rated for 4S. Anyway I know there are some other folks that have these so I thought I would post some pics of what I have done.

    Here are some before Pics:

I removed the middle stringers, sanded it, layed CF through the middle, removed the radio box. Made a Carbon Fiber over wood Servo mount. Added 2 part expanding foam in the stern. Painted the rest of the interior Black and painted the remaining wood stringers chrome.

I put pool noodles in the bow, and changed the rudder to a larger AeroMarine rudder with water pickup.

I put a NEU/Castle 1515 1Y 2200KV motor with a SeaKing 180A ESC and Prather 225 Prop. I will be running it Sunday and hope it performs as well as the inside looks. If it runs well, is controllable and fun, then I will take the hardware off and polish it, and repaint the hull.

              Hey its looking good,
Did you make the strut adjustable ?
I just used a file to elongate the holes some, About 1/4"for adjustment.
And you should mod the turn fins to,
I just reversed them from side to side and bent them to the bottom of the hull.
Also you should run your rudder water line to your esc first,
And then to your lower nipple on the water jacket and mount and then out the side.

              Just trying to help.

Thanks Lenny. Yes, i made the strut adjustable. I drilled two new holes next to the original, but I wish I would have just did what you did, Although with the two holes now AND maybe filing them, I have plenty of room for adjustments. On the turn fins and trim tabs, I probably will just get adjustable ones from here at OSE. I want to see how she runs first. Concerning cooling the ESC first, there seems to be some debate here on this forum as to which you should cool first. But, now that I think about it, the ESC in this setup will probably get hotter than the motor. After I run it I will check the temps and see.

Thanks for the input, it is appreciated!

Does that stuff work good for strength to ?
What S will you be running sunday ?
I also thought about modding the rudder bracket like 1",
To make it longer off the transit to see if it make the boat more stable at higher speed.

From what I have read here, yes. Plus, it adds the flotation you should probably have there. Although, I doubt that the hatch would ever come off with that big hatch bolt. The weak point of mine is where the wing attaches to the hatch. The hatch is cracked at each of the four bolts. I have epoxied those areas. Also, I just noticed, I don't have a windshield. Must have lost that in an earlier wreck.

Is that a spycam on the wing?

Yes, Mine windshield was missing when I got it too,
I was going to order a new one for it and may be the decals for it.
Or a new hatch but can't find them any more.
When they flip that wing hooks in the water pretty bad.
Just try not to do that.
