Got to run her today for the first time.............using twin Titan 550's and stock drive on 14 cells.

Good and bad. She ran great for the first couple passes.........probably 35-ish on the twin 21t titans, but then a nasty sound started. The gear drive may have taken a crap, dont know, i'll find out in a big when i pull it apart.

**vid is a bit shaky til about 7:40pm due to an enhancement i added that is now being removed.

Well the 'two gears in one' part is chewed up.

SO...................i happen to have a spare Leopard 4074 laying around................ Gonna use a Graupner flex coupler to the thru-hull cup drive and the stock outdrive for scale appearance...........i may just run it on 3s with an x445.

So just a single then? That'll probably be best.Don't imagine the Leopard will have too hard a time planing that hull.
I messed around with gears way back with my System 7 cat and went with a belt system that worked great and sounded like a blower in there. However HyperDrive is gone now and I haven't seen any others out there.

Not with putting out 1500+ watts as opposed to the 400w that are mustered up by two titans together.

Ordered this motor for alot of torque and lower rpms on 6s, that way the drive cup wont be under so much strain. I will use a prop in the 47mm range.

Got the Big T-600 outrunner in the mail today...............1100kv to run on 6s for Gonzo torque and lowish rpms to spin a larger prop and not overload the ball/cup joint.

Havent ever owned an outrunner, or even had one in my hand to turn...........kinda different, you cant hold the can and turn the shaft in case anyone is wondering

Got it all mounted in a few hours this evening. I made my signature custom mounts from aluminum L stock.

Happy with how it all fit together since i dont want to drill any holes thru bulkheads and "un" stock the hull.

She's ready to hit the water!!!

Kept everything as stock as i could, had to drill just one more motor wire hole to the rear compartment for the ESC wires, and i passed the cooling tubes thru the large steering rod holes.

Simple water cooling with the brass beveled pickup, i did have to drill two holes in the transom to get those thru....................no way was i gonna poke any hulls in the side of this beauty, so the water exit is in the rear too. Turn fins were added as well to try to calm down the corner hopping i see in vids.

The Big outrunner sounds sweet spooling up!!!

My son said he wanted to go with me tomorrow(btw, I have a mini-mono brushless in transit for him! ) so he will shoot vid.............eager to run it

These were great boats by ABC at the time. Even today, they can be lots of scale fun. The major downfall of the design was the weak gearbox. About eight years ago, the hot trend was to replace the twin motors/gearbox, and steerable outdrive with a single 700 brushed motor and electronic speed control, with a conventional strut and rudder. That made the boat a blast to play with. I think I still have a couple of the CESA/Super Hawaii boats laying arond, and I've even got a new-in-the-box nitro version here somewhere :)

I did the same...700 motor and new ESC and hooked to OEM drive. Ran it on 12 and 14 cells. She ran good. Fins will help her a lot.
