    51" Mono - Castle 2028 build

Just had to have a BIG mono. Custom ordered 51" Mono hull, 5 day molding process, ply transom support, ply stringers, and a custom teal metallic paintjob with several coats of clear. The color and shine are truly impressive in person, i wanted something a bit different and i guess i got it.

    Motor: Castle 2028 780kv
ESC: Castle ICE 200hv up to 12s Lipo
    Batts: Flightmax 5s 5800 30c's x 4 for 10s2p.
    Hardware: 100% Speedmaster, 1/4" drive.
I'm thinking she may nudge at 70mph................hopin' anyway

    Thanks for lookin'!!!

Very nice looking hull. Is it a 4 a buck hull from Oregon? Vern Kilmer makes 4 a buck boats. I have owned 3 of his hulls and have one now. it appears to be the same as your hull.

Not sure about the "4 a buck" name, but yes, its Vern..........what a nice guy. He sent me different color options, and allowed me to 'tweak' them. This one is a Cobra GT Mono. He emailed me several times and then to let me know it had shipped, with a tracking number. It was packaged extremely well..........not a ding or scratch on it...............its possibly the first hull i have ever gotten without a chipped nose.........

The 2028 in my 50" Hydro pushes it to mid/high 50's in a moderate temp setup. Temps in the 120's ESC/Motor. The motor is certainly strong and may push this to mid/higher 60's. My goal is to find the sweet spot between speed and cool/warm operating temps as i'm not really racing this.............just a sport boat.

Check the rear of the hull for hooks. I have heard that these hulls have been known to have some pretty large ones. May require some filling/sanding... maybe not.

Spot on as 2 of the 3 I have owned had a hook in the bottom. They are heavy hulls. It would take a 28cc modded zenoah to get that hull to 65-70 mph. One of mine had a full mod 260 and 58 or less was a push. I found them to be a tad flighty at that speed also because they are nose heavy. The rails are very tall. I ended up cutting them way down in as many places as possible because they are in the way during a build and ad to weight. Best of luck on the build.

Thanks for the luck.......................got me wondering about the speed though, a modded Zenoah is in the 6-7hp range from what i have found, this motor can put out 7000 watts without a problem..........10hp. Bill just finished his 54" Arapaho with a 2028 on 9s and hit 65..............I'm going 10s

                          Bills boat:

Electrics use rpms and gas uses more torque to get there with a larger prop. I don't know we'll have to wait and see. Would say 10hp is a lot for that boat. If you go strickly on hp that is the same as rcmk's 52cc twin inline engine??? One electric motor equals 2 zenoah style hooked together in line fully modded in hp, well I am open to learning but want to see this one!!!!

I'll take the twin inline fully modded with tuned pipes in this matchup for speed. The video u posted is no where near 65 mph +. Where is the pop corn!

I also know that hull very well and don't think it will like 65+ either. 55-60 is about all it will handle. It has buttloads of lift in the bottom and will get too squirrelly.

I've known Bill a long time..................he's been a member here since 2009, he has no reason to tell a "story". Are you keeping in mind that its a 4 1/2 foot boat flying by.......?.......they look slower due to the size.
