Thanks brotha!! It's going to be a brushed 700 system for this season. I'll go brushless with it when I can dig up some more cash. 6 boats all on lipo...Somthings gota give some where!!

I hear 'ya on that one. I do believe, however, that the Rio will be fine with a brushed 700. My take is that sometimes in our quest for absolute speed we forget to appreciate the true beauty of a nicely done scale boat churning it up.
For what it's worth, I'm getting as much, if not more enjoyment watching this build evolve as following [and trying to catch up to] the "fast" stuff.

I appreciate the compliments. The work is tedious yes.. And haveing access to the tools is a big thing. My next goat is to try doing some water pick up blades.
They take time due to the process. Drilling straight for 3-4 inches inside a 1/4 in bar stock and not come out the side somewhere is where the skill and a good bit come in hand. Thanks again guys...

I have been @ this for about 2 days now. I scored a set of hopf motor mounts in a trade & it's working out good here. Yes I know it's backward but I did that in order to install an adaptor mount for 36mm brushless motors behind it. What is kewl is that the KB motor bolts up in these mounts perfect!! The HW install is the best I have done yet. It's exactly level and centered. I'm really happy with it. After having a look it's obvious the rudders will need to be trimmed some. This is not a big deal. The cirus super torque servo is over sized. I was having placement issues. As you can see I epoxied some composite to the stuffing tube braces and got a sturdy servo mount. Packs can be slid under it. I regged the steering with some ts2 pushrod and a plastic sleeve. I have a titainium turn buckle for a drag link. I am off the the LHS for some ange in order to make mounts. I'm running low on DC also...go figure lol. I just have an esc mount and some clean up in the hull to take care of tonight.

Good eye!! I dont have any washers on the motor studs yet.The connector need to be slid back some also. It's just mounted up for alinment. Once I get a couple standerd and lock washers in place I will have the gap.

LOL Corey I had the linkage Darin made up that went with the box I used on your boat. Thats what is in your setup & is completely intact . All you have to do is slide it down to the REK. I buy and sell so many boats & kits my shop is like a hardware store.

Got alot done this evening. Amazing how productive you can be when ya don't work...lol. Steering is done jus gota water proof the rod sleeve. Getting the ruders in alinment was tricky. What you see is the third configration of tierods I tried. I used some tubing under the ends in order to take out some slop. The servo is a monster. The ros ends are cranked down on the tubing pretty good and it never slowed down the servo. My trip to the LHS today scored me some clear DC. I uesd it to put the final layer on the motor mount and smooth out all the grinded epoxy from the last HW install. I'm pleased with the result. Last order of business was the brush coolers on the motor. Oh yeah and I had to trim the stuffing tube.l I was going to shim it and move back the coupler and realized the thrust bearing needed to go on the shaft. There ya go Dougie..LOL I have a short clip of the rudders in action. Tomorrow is just esc, receiver and a little finish work.
