Here's my final build of the winter. It will be a dual purpose P-Spec/P-Sport Hydro. I built it for my son for record oval trials and I'll do a little heat racing with it. The hull quality is top notch. I'm really impressed with the glass work along the seams in in the corners. This is one well built hull. I did however find the floor of the hull a bit too flexible for my liking so I added a layer of CF along the bottom. This did stiffen the bottom up considerably. The Insane hardware is very high quality and is a snap to install. I also like the Insane motor mount and the cool Insane decal. Both items are not on Insane web site so if you decide to build a FE30 and want these items you'll have to ask for them. I mounted the Castle 1515 1Y about 11 inches from the transom to give me the proper cowling clearance for the motor and cooling jacket. After intalling the motor and stuffing tube, I discovered when I pushed the prop end of the stub shaft foward the hull would flex at the aft end of the motor mount causing a misalignment between the stuffing tube and flex shaft. So I made some 6 inch rails out of plywood. They are not very high at just 5/16" Now when I push forward on the shaft now there is absoulutely no flex in the hull between the stuffing tub and motor mount. One final mod I did was to add a pair of cowl keepers to the front of the cowl just in case the tape peels off a bit while running. Motor combo for IMPBA record ovals will be the Castle 1515 1Y with a Turnigy 180. I have a .187 flex in her and will try a M545 and perhaps a ABC 1716. I don't know how hard I can push the T180.
