    the paint is finished

so finally finished with the never ending paint job, needless to say i am very happy with how she came out. I am equally exited to start taking evereything out of the inside of this thing and lay the orange and black carbon fiber down and start the reconfiguration of electronics... just wait till you see the trick water outlets i found at toughracing.com

so tonight i layed the carbon fiber out..not easy by any means but think it came out pretty good for my first time... this thing is as strong as its gonna get. as soon as the fiberglass is set i am going to start wet sanding and buffing i now see what you guys say about keep your edges sharp, the clear rolled over the edges pretty good.. no biggie just have some fine sanding to do

Shes looking good Derek.Another tip that I would do if I were doing an EKOS again is to remove the stock flotation foam from the front and use Great Stuff Window and Door expanding foam in its place.Others may be against this type of foam, but it works if your careful and use small amounts at a time. There are other foams out there that may be better for FE use,but I dont think its cheap.
Another tip, remove the stock windshield and use something else in its place or fill the window openings. The windows will blow out, flooding the inside of the boat.

i didn t weight it before i started but with some searching im sure i could find out, i am interested to see how much heavier it is now by holding it i can feel a difference since it put the carbon fiber in but in the paint stages i didnt notice. its only logical that i gained with 7 stages of paint. i test fitted the outlets today and they look great, got some soldering to do tonight on the 9xl's and fit the jackets

today i mounted the motors, in order to do so i had to boar out the stock mounts so the collets would fit through with ease.. then i took out the stock foam in the bow of the boat and shot some GREAT STUFF in there very nice expanding nicely. i also mounted the rear water outlets where you used to find the cheesy exaust pipes, much nicer and serves a purposehere some pics

so im held up for the moment i am waiting for my escs and for some reason the wire drives that everyone is runnung in this boat wont fit in mine without me finding a bearing that would fit the stub shaft on the wire drive... with some searching i found some dynamite 5x7 bearing, as soon as they get here i can finish this boat and bench test it. i have since weighed her and she comes in at just under 5 lbs with packs in minus the esc's

If they ever show up I am going to put them on a scale build. Its a 50" Apache with scale Merc style outdrives. The water outlets will double as scale exhaust pipes.

ya i ordered the wrong ones i got the ones from OSE but i ordered the ones from rcraceboat.com. lastnight so pretty much almost squared away here... and the water outlets took forever to get to me to well worth it when you get them stick the end in a drill and take some metal polish in a rag and drill away they polish up like a mirror...
