I was cleaning out the basement and came across my first electric boat...yes I said first Electric Boat! Anyway, it originally had twin 550 can motors geared to one prop with a steerable strut. It measures 29.5" by 10" and is made out of abs plastic. I was reading forescott's twin outboard build and it wasn't long to make the jump that this old cat needs an outboard. The proboat outboard is what I plan to use.
Problems:
1. The seam where the two halves of the hull would get in the way of mounting the outboard, any ideas there?
2. The old drive shaft has a molded outlet on the bottom, this would cause massive cavitation problems, should I grind it off and seal it? or could I just lower the motor?
3. What motor should I use? and what prop? I'm not looking to break any speed records with this one, just want to give it life. Ok ....Maybe in the low 40's
