What to do with this old CAT?

I was cleaning out the basement and came across my first electric boat...yes I said first Electric Boat! Anyway, it originally had twin 550 can motors geared to one prop with a steerable strut. It measures 29.5" by 10" and is made out of abs plastic. I was reading forescott's twin outboard build and it wasn't long to make the jump that this old cat needs an outboard. The proboat outboard is what I plan to use.

    Problems:
    1. The seam where the two halves of the hull would get in the way of mounting the outboard, any ideas there?

    2. The old drive shaft has a molded outlet on the bottom, this would cause massive cavitation problems, should I grind it off and seal it? or could I just lower the motor?

    3. What motor should I use? and what prop? I'm not looking to break any speed records with this one, just want to give it life. Ok ....Maybe in the low 40's

    Here are some Pics:

I'd sure be tempted to throw the Proboat OB on it and run it with mild brushless.
NEED PARALLEL CONNECTORS?? QUALITY 5.5MM, 8MM, 8 AND 10 AWG, GET THEM HERE: http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...est!&highlight=

So we got recovery boat as an option, but I use a fishing rod for recovery. And I have one for the OB option...hmm I like both ideas, but it would suck to bring two boats to the lake and have only run one for recovery. I am still leaning toward the mild brushless OB though. I just don't know what setup I should go with? UL-1 motor on 2s? maybe?

This is actually a bit higher than the mild, but the PB can handle it. Its a Leopard 36x60mm motor. The PB outboard has 56mm length motor in it but the wires come out the top of the motor. These wires come out the side.......it should be a perfect fit. I'd go 4s with it.

Is the ABS brittle? Maybe for ease of build, go with a proboat motor inboard on 4s?

That's a good question I'll have to see what shape the hull is in...
