stuffing tube seal?

Well... If you look WAY up in this thread, you'll see that the tube used to be longer. It's a piece of large diameter Carbon Fiber. After I shortened it, I actually used my lathe and machined a small disc of carbon fiber to JUST fit, and I epoxied it in place.

I've also, when I've built up the tubes OUT of the boat, just taped up one end, and flooded the end of the tube with a mixture of epoxy and fiberglass bits. Still working fine.

yes, i noticed you shortened it. a while ago i bought a DF 29 and soon found that the stuffing tube hole was drilled off center, the motor mount, to stuffing tube, to strut angles ALL didnt line up correctly. so, i thought of doing something like this with a piece of a broken fishing rod to get it all lined up correctly, instead of messing up the transom by drilling more holes to move the strut 1/8" to the right, but wasnt sure of a way to seal it.

did you just poke a small hole in it where the wire/cable comes through? thanks for the info, im excited to try it now!

You'll note that my strut is PURPOSEFULLY mounted offset to the right. I do this on all my monos. It helps to counter the prop torque.

There is a "normal", hydroplane/cat style stuffing tube running inside the larger carbon tube.

aha! tube inside a tube i also set them up to the right, but in this case the motor mount, stuffing tube and strut alignment was "crooked" and way off line of each other. thanks again and keep the pics and hopefully video coming.

Nothing... it's sealed at the front end, and, once the boat is underway, it comes back out...

what did you use for sealing at the front end; is it just a teflon bushing or what else ?
