Here goes. Inspired by the recent twin scarab outboard build, I pulled the trigger today and purchased 2- proboat stilletto outboards w/o motors for my converted proboat thundercat. I recently sold the castle 1515 out of the TC to fund another project. Then got a castle 1520 that I was planning on running on 6s. But now I want something different and I'm thinking of using ul-1 motors in the stilletto OB's on 4s. Turnigy/seaking esc's, and possibly counter rotating props. I need some help on finding someone to make up a counter rotating flex shaft for one of the ouboards. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I should have the parts in a couple of days. In the mean-time I can start gutting the TC and remove the stuffing tube.

Looking forward to see how you do with the Pro Boat outboards. I'm not sure these Aquacraft geared lower units can handle what I'm trying to do.
Where did you get the Pro Boat motors and what motors will you put in them?
I tried looking online for some info on them but couldn't find anything. I need to know the specs like hight, weight, distance from the cav plate to the mounting bracket, ect........

Yes, this is going to be so cool!

Horizon hobby recently got them in stock. Not too much info on their website yet. I'll be using motors from the aquacraft ul-1 superior. And they will go on the boat in my avatar. The proboat thundercat 31.Attached Files

UL-1 motors are going to be awefully hot motors for a big cat setup like that... I would recommend, if you insist on AQ motors, going with the new 1800KV SV27 motors in stead. I think you'll get better performance out of them. They have less KV, but more torque, and will run more comfortably on a setup like this that is going to be a little heavy.Darin E. This is the main thing holding me up on my triple/quad outboard project... If you DO find right lay w/ square end, how do you keep the threaded prop shaft bushing from coming un-screwed? If you figure it out, I am allllllllllllll ears. I noticed they are threaded to tighten with the spin of the flex.Originally posted by forescott View PostI want to. Need to somehow get a reverse rotation flex cable with square ends for the stilletto. I will find out when I get the outboards on Monday.
I wonder how much propwalk will be an issue with a big cat (my 45" cat) and small props?
How far forward will you have to put your batts?"Look good doin' it"

all the twin nitro outboards do NOT use counter rotating propssee my fleet

I'm sure it will work ok either way. I know my twin stinger cat handles poorly with same rotation props. But steerable outboards are probably much different handling-wise and I think will do much better. If its not an easy mod to counter rotate one motor, I wont be too concerned about it.

Got the stilletto outboards today. Now I'm trying to work out the kinks. The shafts turn real hard and need some modifying to get them to spin freely. Also ended up ordering a pair of ul-1 motors. Should have em in a couple of days.Attached Files
