I can't compete with those dudes but here is the video of the Scarab running on the brushless system. The video doesn't do it justice, this little thing screams for the type of setup. This is running the counter rotating 32mm 3 blade Venom props. Thanks guys for the compliments. When I started this project I knew very little about a real electric RC boat. This brushless thing is new to me and didn't even know it existed until I got into RC helicopters a few months back. I have learned a lot from you guys.
I chucked the boxes already but I think they were 2400 kv? Does that sound right? Whatever they are they run like a stuck pig. The props are Venom 32mm counter rotating. They are plastic. I have the aluminum ones on order but they have no idea when they will be in. I am going to try the 36mm props too. I don't know about sanding them flush, I thought about it but as it is there is just a dribble coming out of each thru hull discharge. Drag or not this boat runs way faster than I need it to. 3/4 throttle is fast enough. Full throttle is just silly.
But at full throttle this little hull is super stable, never once did I think it was going to get squirrely, even in hard turns it stays hooked in the water.
Great running hull this little Challenger is. I'm going to shoot some pictures to Remy at Aeromarine once its all done. When I was explaining what I wanted to do I'm not sure he was on the same page.

Nice work... Just so you know... you can sand those intakes down flush with the bottom and you'll have less drag, and PLENTY of water pressure for the cooling. Flush is how most people do this type of intake.

The rest....can only put 6 images in one post.
............ESC cooling.....also works great. Each ESC has its own intake and discharge. Not a huge stream of water shooting but it looks like enough for this setup.


Thru hull intakes. Simple piece of brass tubing epoxied into the hull bottom and a sharp angle.



I am very happy with the outcome. The sound alone they make is cool. Stand by for a video, I'll get that done this weekend.

Oh its freakin awsome!! Found out both my batteries were bad. Thats from running the boat on the brushed motors with no kind of low voltage protection. Damn...the boat is smokin fast now. Best part is I can go as slow as a dead idle or as fast as I'm guessing somewhere between 30 and 35 MPH, maybe even 40. Its tough to tell with the boat coming at you in my canal.
Now for the repower pictures.
Stripped down....


New power plants. New gears in both lower units and a super thick liquid lubricant in the gears instead of grease. Lets see how long they last.

Lower units on and ESCs installed..


Brushless motors installed, the water cooling works perfect. I held the boat in place in the pool and gave it about 1/4 throttle and there was a healthy stream of water shooting out the discharge hole.

Yup....salt water, I'm surrounded by it. I usually take my RC boats out in the real boat and run them while hanging out at the local watering hole.
I have a pressurized fresh water system on my real boat. I'm going to make a rig so I can run fresh water through all the components on the RC boat immediately after a run.
