HAHA. She likes to go fast! It handles straight line speed really well in a little chop. The Turnigy 180 was absolutely flawless. It will handle this, or any other motor for that matter, as long as the amps arent too high. I wasn't working ANYTHING. Runtime was supre long on 10,000mah too.

what size stuffing tube did you use with .187 cableOriginally posted by Rumdog View PostI just got this Beautiful Drifter L in a trade. It has front sponson damage. I've patched it up with some light glass and z-poxy with micro-balloons. Shaped for the most part and super strong now. Have to put some more work into that repair yet, but it's definately usable. It came with a 9xl and a .130" cable. Ran her today, on 4s2p. It was fun, but a bit anemic. It ran very nicely with just the last couple of inches of ride pad on the water. She measures about 37" overall and is about 10.75" wide. That power setup isn't gonna cut it for me. I have a Castle/Neu 1717 here, so I machined up a nice aluminum motor mount at work today. Popped it in when I got home today, and changed out the stuffing tube and flex for a .187" setup. I have a 1520 on the way, and my end up using that instead. I have other plans for this 1717. I'll be starting with 5s2p and a Seaking 180. Here is how she looks inside now. Cant wait to let her rip tomorrow.

Thats sweet. Its nice to see another Drifter L on here.I just bought a Leopard 5692 1090kv for mine.Does yours pull to the right constantly?Mine does and I cant figure it out.I ve had 3 different motors in it so far and it still persists.

Yes, it does pull right. The reason for this is that the prop wants to lift the left side, and pull the right (starboard) side down into the water. The little extra drag on the one side will cause it to want to veer right. One way to correct it is to offset the drive starboard. Another way is to actually angle the drive so that the thrust is angled very slightly towards the starboard sponson. The rudder correction (trimming left) adds a lot of drag too and is a speed killer. The bigger the prop, the worse this condition will be.Last edited by Rumdog; 09-29-2010, 05:48 PM.

Do you think the cc1520 would work good with the same props as the 1717 or something slightly smaller? I ran the cc1515 in my 31-inch cat on 4s with a 545 without issues, and just got the cc1520 to replace it. I was gonna run 6s for 35,520 unloaded rpm, but I dont want to over prop it and burn anything up.

Much success today! (Borat voice) Changed the prop to a stock s@b h6. She likes it! I lost a lot of that pulling to the right. I also pushed harder in turns. Guess what... It works. Seems with the narrow tunnel with less volume, it gets off step easier. Keeping the tunnel aired out helps it TONS in the turns! I was able to take corners at maybe 35 mph without incident. This hull is very stable at speed. The extended tunnel keeps the front end from lifting off when it hits a nice size wave. I'm starting to like this boat a lot! Big change coming to her really soon though. It will hit 80mph, or sink trying!

I'll try to get vid up this weekend. I've been running after work, and I'm solo. I learned the hard way not to record and drive at the same time!
Yep, 80. Hope the hull stays planted. Baby steps. It will be heavier than it is now which will help.

If you're putting 1717's in this I wont feel so silly for putting 1520's in the cat I got from Deigoboy
