I would have used Turnigy T500 2200KV motors instead. $20 each & almost Scorpion quality.

The infatuation with water cooling motors seems to lead to burnt parts.

Instead of looking for cooled cheap marine motors, look for inexpensive, very powerful outrunners that don't need coooling. One person mearly dropped in the slightly inferior Typhoon 500 motors, no cooling and he gets 50mph without sweat.

By all means try these motors. Learn....

An unpainted Apparition hull:

Don't know if I'm going blue or red with it.
I'm leaning towards mostly red on white with black trim. Black is so hard to maintain, shows every little scratch and water spot.

The other option was to leave it a dull white with a decal on the side that said: many fast many happy china boat

It's actually 820mm which is 32 1/4 inches.

The red turned out a little darker than I had hoped, but still turned out a bright metallic in the sunlight.

Now to find an accent color and decide how to accent it. Gold/Silver and Yellow come to mind... but not sure at this point. Some white pin striping should liven it up a bit.

Actually it was the second and third coat that darkened it up. I expected some, but this really went more that a couple shades darker. I didn't expect that much.

It's raining out, so will wait till it's nice and sunny to do the clear coats.

Once I get a few nice thick clear coats on it, I think it will look more like Cherry Red metallic, but for now, still looks burgundy.

Another reason this is a cheap generic hull. I'm learning how to paint a boat now, before I mess up my nice one.

Red is one of the most difficult colors to photograph, specifically close up. The colors are off in the photos, but here's what should be the final product:

Pending decal placement and final clear coats. It was a real pain in the tail to put the pin stripe inside of the pinstripe on the sides, but was worth it, came out great!

Now to decide... What decals to apply? I have numbers already setup and ready, but really nothing else.
