Bummer. I have ordered a few 4mm right hand lay cables... $8 each... But again, not sure what size drives the twin apparition uses.FighterCatRacing Team CHING BLING - Ching Bling. Brilliant, Advanced Sparkle for your hull.

BTW- I'm still getting water splatter in the hull. Even with fuzzy velcro wrapped around the stuffing tube. It's almost like a water leak in the motor mount, but have put water lines on and squeezed the water bottle as hard as I can and no leak. Did the same for the cooling can. Maybe it only happens under vibration. I dunno.
No grease in the shaft splatter though... just water... and the tube was freshly greased.
I'm so confused on this one. I might just bypass the motor and mount and see if the water leak stops.
I pulled the strut and sealed it with some silicone and covered it with 6" of shrink wrap.FighterCatRacing Team CHING BLING - Ching Bling. Brilliant, Advanced Sparkle for your hull.

Well, that answers that! There are 4mm right lay shafts available and 3/16" prop sets will fit with a shim of #129 brass tubing.Originally posted by Alfa Spirit View PostLooking to the stingers; those are TFL Hobby hardware 4mm flex shafts

Is there plenty of grease between the teflon tube and stuffing tube? Water can seep in between the two if the fit isnt snug.Originally posted by FighterCat57 View PostBTW- I'm still getting water splatter in the hull. This one is the factory fit, it was too tight to pull out of the brass, but there is some stuffing tube liner past the tube by the hex. I can try to seal it there and see if it helps. Some shrink wrap over the two.Originally posted by forescott View PostIs there plenty of grease between the teflon tube and stuffing tube? Water can seep in between the two if the fit isnt snug.
I think I'm going to change the motor mount too... just in case.FighterCatRacing Team CHING BLING - Ching Bling. Brilliant, Advanced Sparkle for your hull.

The motor wires were getting hot enough to melt the flotation pipe insulation, so I cut them down and pulled about 8" of extra wire out of the connection. This should help reduce the amount of resistance in the connection.
I tested the water system again and have yet to find any leaks. I added a piece of shrink tube at the top of the stuffing tube, as well as my velcro anti-splatter setup.
Right now on 3s with a 40mm prop, this setup is pushing 45mph. Motor doesn't even need cooling yet. The ESC get's up to about 145.FighterCatRacing Team CHING BLING - Ching Bling. Brilliant, Advanced Sparkle for your hull.

Ah!!!
Still got that nasty shaft splatter!
OK, next run out, I'm bypassing the motor and motor mount. It's not greasy splatter, so perhaps the o-rings on the cooling can aren't making a good seal. I'm reaching here.
On a side note; I melted a set of EC5's in less than 5 minutes. Holy crap. That's crazy.

Just an update, still have that nasty shaft splatter.
I'm waiting on Jeff to make me another wire drive and I think I'm going to install a complete new stuffing tube and strut.
Seems to be really happy on 3s, running about 43mph w/40mm plastic prop. One of those cheap green ones. Although it broke today when I hit a turtle.
I'm thinking that an x440 would do OK and perhaps work well on 4s for some speed runs. We'll see.

I'm getting to know their patterns and they do scare off easily. Typically on a sunny day they stay towards the shore. Mornings they are typically not out in the lake, not sure where they are. But it's obvious when one get's hit. Thunk! Hey, why can't I steer?Originally posted by blackcat26 View PostDamn turtles! They can cause trouble!

Sometimes where I run I do a slow pass to make sure the "coast is clear" before I buzz across the lake.FE BOATING: Less like a hobby and more like an addiction!

Yeah, that's a good idea! I try to, but balance it with building up heat in the ESC. Nothing more annoying than zipping out, only to die before hitting full throttle!Originally posted by blackcat26 View PostSometimes where I run I do a slow pass to make sure the "coast is clear" before I buzz across the lake.FighterCatRacing Team CHING BLING - Ching Bling. Hey guys,
Just ordered one and would like to ask which way do you configure your batteries as I need to buy more and want to get the right ones?
On 3s do you place battery in front of the motor?
4s (single pack) the same as 3s or do you run 2 x 2s one each side?
CheersThe older I get the BETTER I was..

This is the single motor model. I've changed the motor and ESC to a Turnigy 180 and a Castle Neu 2650. I run twin 3s packs in parallel. I also sometimes do the same with two 4s packs and a smaller prop.Originally posted by NOZ69R View PostHey guys,

I'm just running for fun and don't mind the extra weight of running in parallel. If you're running for speed, series is the way to go. Much lighter configuration. With the twin motor model, I don't know if there's enough speed to warrant battery placement in the nose forward of the motors. That moves the COG pretty far forward.
Hope this helps.FighterCatRacing Team CHING BLING - Ching Bling. Brilliant, Advanced Sparkle for your hull.
