Very cool... I'm interested to see how 2000kv does on 5s.

I 2nd the paralleling of batts. Two motors drawing off 1 batt will probably result in short runs - I double mine with ONE motor... Even a pair of 4000mah would be sweet.
Nice work and I am ready for maiden voyage!!"Look good doin' it"

That radio is an airplane radio, so don't hope to use it at any sanctioned events. You'll need to check the surrounding area for possible interference before you run, you don't want to bring a plane down. Those tubes are also really looong...
I've seen nice stainless screws at Home depot. They're in the drawers.

I saw you were running 6s1p and that kind of convinced me that my setup should be able to run off 1p. I was really looking to save weight as this thing is gonna be very heavy. I know the weight wont really have too much impact on the speed but this thing was pretty close to failing the bathtub test at its approximate weight. It sits pretty low which should be expected I guess considering its a dual setup on only a 33, kinda wishing I would have gotten the 35'' but a little late now.
Heres a link to the battery I got, it should be able to handle my setup

"I cant wait to see this run. " I know man me either, hopefully ill be able to get this thing in the water early next week, I got finals all next week though so we'll see

Ya im a little worried 37k unloaded rpm is more then I wanted but I wanted to go 5s, the 14L has a 1/8 shaft and I already have the flex and couplers and I couldnt find any 1/8 to .150 couplers. Not to mention my buddy is building a dual drive skunkworks cat that I gotta keep up with. If it dosent work ill just have to get 4s2p and maybe prop up a bit, but thats getting a little too far ahead. We'll just have to see how this thing runs first

2p would be nice but im saving close to 300 grams runing this 1p setup. I like to have extra run time aswell but im banking on the twins pulling a few less amps, and maybe the lower weight will help it get up on plane with less power.

Thanks Kong theres an ACE the next town over, I think there is a Fastenal as well, ill have to check them out
To join the motor mounts i just cut the head off of a bolt and screwed the two together with just one bolt in the center, maybe not the best way to do it but not really sure of any other way, seems very solid. Ill prob run a carbon rod through the back of the sides to help keep the motor angle where its at.Last edited by obrien008; 04-27-2010, 05:41 PM.

Ive heard from 2 recent twin builds that the shed weight from an extra battery was only that, shed weight. My twin HOTR also sits LOW in the water. The water line is half way up the back deck to the hatch. You shouldnt have any problems on your 1P set up though. Just short run times. And depending on how long you stay full throttle, that can be really short. Worst Ive gotten is under 2 min. But I think its more a mah issue than anything. Ive now got some 5800s as well. Hopefully test runing this afternoon.

The 6EX is strictly air or so ive read, The 4EX can be used for surface, it has the option of low high or surface band, I got one with channel 66 surface band so im hoping it works good, got it for $130 with tx/rx batteries and 4 servos so not a bad deal if it works anyways. The tubes will be cut down, trying to see how they look as they get shorter, I kind of like the looks of the longer ones but will still def cut down a bit.
How do you think the water pick ups will work? Too much drag?

I'm not sure the battery will keep up, and the run time could be short..

It will work, no doubt about it. Just short run times. I run 6S1P 5000mah to two 540 10Xls with no problems or heat at all.

There is no doubt that your 1p setup will work. Tiqueman has proved it. Is it better probably not. I have tried it and While I don't have a GPS it was noticable. The other thing to watch is if your LVC is set high you may hit it when voltage drops during a run. Here is video to show you what i'm talking about. The setup was the same in both videos. First video is with 4s2p and the second was 4s1p. With the 1p setup its over 600 grams lighter. My suggestion for you is try it both ways and see what your boat likes. You have a very unique setup that may require something different. I definatly want to see this baby run.

I don't think anyone said it will not work with one battery...
just short runtimes, possibly LVC will kick in sooner, and time will tell how well it works on a Vee.NAMBA20...Caterpillar UL-1, P-Spec OM29, P-Mono DF33, P-Spec JAE, Aussie 33" Hydro-LSH, Sprintcat CC2028 on 8s, PT SS45 Q Hydro, PS295 UL-1 power, OSE Brothers Outlaw QMono 4-sale, Rio 51z CC2028 on 8s

Basically what I'm trying to say is my experience with 1p wasn't good. I hit the cutoff on every pass. Even at 600+ grams lighter it's still slower.
The vids are now working. If all of your wishes are granted, many of your dreams will be destroyed!
