Ya Blackcat im gonna cut the rudder down, probably almost up to the water pickups. Ill prob start half way up to them and go shorter from there depending on how its running.

Got the carbon fiber yesterday, heres a pic of the layup.

Im also working on a plate that will brace the motor mount and support the servo

Pshh i know I got 5 meters of both red and black in 6mm and 3mm so 20 meters total for 6$ on HK, but ya he will definatly find a way to either use it all or accidentally heat the entire bundle at once....

Thanks Bonewar, now I just gotta figure out how to make those orange motor mounts not look so ugly(maybe polish them and paint the fiber glass sides of them black or something).
But it was my first time working with CF, unfortunatley I didnt lay it up perfectly but its pretty good other then the CF not making it all the way to the back. I saw alot of your CF work on one of your threads, what do you use to cut the plates with? All I have is a Dremmel

Mate when i make the carbon plate i make it around 1.5mm thick for the bulkheads.
This thickness allows me to use very sharp titanium scissors to cut it out.
Makes it easy to cut curved shapes smooth.
The rest i use the dremel and a very good set of small files, (sand paper).

A brand new piece of sandpaper can take down CF pretty quickly. Use belt sanding disks cut to fit your sanding block.

Thanks for the tips guys, sanding it down is working nice, now I just gotta get a band saw and some of those scisors, but im pretty much done with most of the carbon fiber on this boat atleast.

Anyways I was thinking about maybe running 540 14L's on 5s which should give about 32500 RPM only drawing max of 44 Amps @ 18.5V.

How many cells can the 540L take?

Does anyone think this is a good idea to go with higher voltage and a lower current draw?

Im looking to go with a more reliable set up rather than a strictly speed set up.

My original plan was 540 12Ls on 4s which should give about 31000 RPM drawing 55 Amps @ 15 Volts

Another reason I want to do this is that I already have 3s packs and would just need two 2s Packs rather then 2 4s Packs.

Don't use a bandsaw unless you use a carbide blade with no teeth. A tothed blade will tear it up.

If you don't go over the mid 30k rpm range, you will be fine. I like the sound of your 14Ls on 5S.
