    Vortex 22" on 2s or 3s

Any tips on building a Vortex?

I am in do deep on my own

and never had a hydro before, scarred to start drilling without some expert advise,

my first problem is battery placement for a single 2s or 3s along the hull or across the hull can you use the sponsons for batteries if using 2 x2s

my next problem I have to many different motors at hand

    etti B29 4650kv 1 x2s 5400

    etti B29 4950kv 1 x 2s 5400

    tenshock B29 3450kv 1 x 3s 3700

    Turnigy B36/56 1800KV 5s 2p

Turnigy 36-56 2700kv 1 x 4s would need to buy more packs if this is the better opion

    Pletenburg HP 290BM/40/6 brushed mmmmmmmmmmmmmm

    esc etti 150A

Do hydro's need to be set up with the weight down the centre line?

If I use 2 x 2s packs do you put them down the centre line or place them in the sponsons?

I have a lot to learn

    Sam

I ran my new one on one 6 and one 7 cell nimh. I plan to run it off of 2 2s batts, thats what the old owner did.

what motor are you going to use with your 2 2s, do you run 2s pack in the sponsons, or down the middle

I ran one with a Ammo 2600 and 4s1p. A 2s 5000mah pack in each sponson and an etti 150 with x637 prop. Ran a consistant 57mph! Very stable little hydro!

                  i have 2 x 5400 2s packs i could use, is the Ammo 2600 the UL1 motor?

                  this looks pretty quick

Absolutely. Try to get the cg about 1-1.5" behind the back of the sponsons. It will rock! The ul-1 is around 2000kv. Mine was 2600kv, a bit hot, but ok with smallish props.

                        cheers rumdog,
can you explain the cg on a hydro
is it the balance point on the back of the sponson on a flat table
i have ajusted the motor so it rocks at that point and it about 1-1.5" behind the back of the sponsons
also is this the point it should balance on a finger,
                        newbie question

Yep, with all the gear in and hardware mounted balance from front to back . Using the fingers is the easiest way.

                            great im on the way

so does it need to lean slighty to the rear or balanced using the finger

Balanced, if it's leaning rear, then your fingers are not at the cg.
