I have started cleaning up after the fire in my Xzess 2. Today I put new heatshrink on the motor wires. One had the heatshrink off all the way inside the can so I had to carefully feed some into the can entrance hole so that it does not short against the can. Two of the leads had the 5.5mm connectors burned off so I replaced those. I tested the Neu after that and it sounds good to me. An on water test will tell the story I guess.
Below are some pictures of the hull damage. There is virtually no damage to the main hull but the hatch cover needs a bit of work. The heat has pulled it out of shape a bit and I am not sure I can fix that as it would take heat to do it I guess. It is not a big problem as the hockey tape will pull it back into place or I can use the cover from Liquid Insanity.





Below you can see where the real damage is done to the hatch cover. The darkest area is just fiberglass cloth but I will leave it as it is quite strong. I will add some more cloth over the top and then patch it all up with epoxy. Some sanding and a bit of paint and it will look like new, no on second thoughts, it will look like I repaired it.

I found an MGM ComPro 12024 - 3s/WP Z series RB esc at the bottom of my parts box. The name is bigger than the esc. I got it quite sometime ago and never used it. I put some connectors on it and plugged it into the 1515 1.5y and it works. I will run it on small props to start with as I know nothing about the quality of these controllers. All I can say is it looks like good quality and was priced like good quality at the time of purchase. It is rated at 120 amps and is water cooled. I will let you know how it goes. If that fails I think it is time to buy one of the CC 240's.

*!***!***!***!** Paddy when you have a fry up you sure do burn things don't you? Good to here you are using that glass I sent you, use a smear of stop putty before you sand and with luck you will not see anything amiss whaen repaired.
As far as that esc is concerned I know nothing of them but heck give it a go, this one mite just blow up instead of starting an inferno!

Jan might read about the ComPro controller and know something about them. I have cleaned things up quite well now with circuit board cleaner and I can see all the seriously damaged parts.

Oh well Douggie if I play with fire I will get burned. I know with most of my setups that I am playing with fire but I have 20 years left to live (I guess) and I want some memories for the years I spend in a wheel chair. With my luck I will get Alzheimer’s and the memories will be wasted.
