It's not that old of a design, so you might have a hard time finding a used motor.
You never know though...I guess it's worth a try if you want to go the used route.
I think there's a used Proteus motor in the swap shop...is that too big?

Yup and Steve's price is pretty good too. I bought one when they first came out but had to wait a couple months to get a second one. you might want to grab one while they are available.Originally posted by keithbradley View PostIt's not that old of a design, so you might have a hard time finding a used motor.

I had Steve special ordered me a Neu a few weeks ago. I think it was $70 less than buying directly from the Castle/Neu web site. Whats up with that??Originally posted by don ferrette View PostYup and Steve's price is pretty good too.Mike Chirillo

I dont mind used motors or speed controllers but never used batteries. I saw the Proteus but do not know the qaulity of them or the wattage rating on it, since I am running the hydra ice 240 and 8s will be close to max amps at the 5000watts of the 1530.plus I like the 1100kv rating. I really like the quality of the nue motors but I am always checking the "for sale thread" for other motors like a lehner.

The Proteus motors are rated and 6300W, and unlike some of the other "budget" motors, they aren't way over rated (TP rates a motor this size at 12,000W, but it doesn't perform any better). It would spin a larger prop than the 1530, but the 1530 could potentially run at a lot higher RPMs. The Proteus motors are limited at 30k loaded.Originally posted by fla350tt View PostIt's not that old of a design, so you might have a hard time finding a used motor.

They make one that's 1050kv but I don't recall what the motor in the swap shop was.
I don't really think there's another 40mm motor out there with that kind of power. You may be limited to the 1530 if you want small dia/big power, but as someone already said you should probably get it while you can...
