NO! Not just "hockey tape", ask for shin guard tape specifically - otherwise you may get stick tape. The best is by Renfrew. EBay is where I usually get mine; lots of choices, this is one:

I have three roll's on the wayshould be here before the weekend

I used some hockey tape that I had from last season and it left alot of the glue on the hull. I suspect possibly a shelf life of one season?
