Jeff I have a XL-5 esc and HPI brushed motor I could sell you for $30 shipped...the esc isnt water cooled but it has reverse, which is nice for a rescue craft. I just made mine out of a boogie board and a small edf fan but I havent had a chance to try it out yet.

Its a 540 size motor. 15t that we used in my sons slash for a short while before upgrading to brushless.
I also have a 770kv castle outrunner (I dont remember the model number but its slightly shorter than a 540 inrunner and slightly larger diameter.). The only EXTRA brushless esc I have is a 30A 16.8V max and its a air model so its not water cooled and would need a pistix. That would put you at a very low rpm with that motor...just depends what you are trying to do.

I am not sure exactly what route I'd like to take with the boat.
Would like it to have some good power to be able to push a 48" gas boat if needed which is probably around 15lbs.
I'll keep you in mind & let you know if I decide to go this route.

Do you think the XL5 esc could handle 2 540s?

I know people that have done it in trucks, but they have to be higher turn. I think the limit is 15t on 540s and 12t on 550s, but dont quote me on that. So if you ran two you would want 30t or higher...I think...Im far from educated on this type of setup though.

                      You and me both!!
I have 2 proboat motors coming my way so I am good on the motors.
So I will be needing a higher amp esc or two small ones.
I think I have found some on ebay that should work with forward & reverse.

                      Appreciate it!
