F/S: 29" Aeromarine Sprint Cat, RTR

I have a gently used 29" Aeromarine Sprint Cat that is looking for a new home.

It has a Leopard 4082 motor rated at 1600 kv and is held in place with a water cooled, carbon fiber mount from Fightercat Racing. Power comes from a Sea King 180 v2 ESC with added cap bank. Steering is handled by a Hi-tec HS-645 MG servo which attaches to an offset rudder and strut from Fine Design Marine. Drive hardware includes an Octura 5mm to .187" collet and a Hughey .187" flex cable that spins a nicely sharpened and balanced Octura X448 prop. Radio gear includes a Tactic TTX240 Tx, and a Tactic TR324 Rx which is sealed in a waterproof box inside the hull.

All ESC to motor connections, and battery leads are done with Castle 5.5 mm bullets.

On 6s with the included X448 prop, this is a solid 63-65 mph boat if conditions allow. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this boat and it's ready to rock at your local pond. Just looking to thin the herd a bit, and make room for an upcoming project.

Any video of the boat running?

No video of it running. R/C boating is not common in my area, and I'm the only one at the lake most of the time. I need to train my 4 year old daughter to run the camera so I can get some vids for youtube.

No lipo's included. They are currently in use in my other boat.

Do you have the flexshaft for it? Doesn't look like its pictures. Were you running 2 3s lipos in a series?

A Hughey .187" flex shaft is included along with an Octura X448 prop. They are not in the photos because the only time I ever put the shaft in the stuffing tube is when the shaft is greased and I'm ready to run the boat.

I ran two 3s batteries in series for a total of 6s.

Yep. Put the male end on the battery negative lead. Female terminal goes on the positive.

You will need batteries that are at least 40c, and a minimum of 5,000 mah. Anything less and you will stress the batteries too much. 5,000 mah is good for a timed 2:15 run. The cells come back right at 3.75 to 3.8 volts per cell.

This is a pretty hot setup for a first boat and it can be a handful to drive if you're too hard on the throttle. I'm getting the impression that this will be your first boat, and I want you to know what you're getting into. A mid 60's boat is best suited for someone with at least a little trigger time under their belts.

I used to run 1/4 scale tunnel hulls. Not new to boats at all, just nee to electric and want to make sure I understand.

The only part of this that I am unfamiliar with is the electrical setup itself. I just want to be clear on what I would need.

How do you connect the two packs to form the series or do they juat both plug into the esc?

Both battery packs have two leads. A male on the neg wire and a female on the pos wire. The ESC has two wires, the neg lead is female and the pos lead is male. All you do is hook one pos lead from one battery to the ESC, you hook a neg lead from the other battery to the esc. Then you take the remaining pos from one battery and hook it to the negative lead on the other battery. You will get a nice fat, blue spark and the esc will be powered up.

Series doubles voltage while parallel doubles capacity. Even though you have two packs that have 5,000 mah each, a series connection takes the 3s voltage of both packs and makes it 6s. The capacity of 5,000 mah remains the same.
