Ok I will try that. I just put in an estimate of the dimensions so hopefully it will be cheaper. Can I get a box like that directly from U-haul?

Yea, I think if i get a box that fits the boat and is not oversized than it will be a lot cheaper. We'll make it happen dont worry.

Thank you Philly, I did not want to sound crass with my last post - it's just that I have shipped lots of large boats and they fall between $75-$100. You are right, we will work this out. :) I am excited to get it and play with it on our lake with my two kids who are just about old enough now to enjoy this.

I have shipped MANY gas boats, and I was able to ship my Y6 for about $85 - $100. I used a sport box (U-haul) that is 48 X 15 X 15. I pack everything in the boat in bubble wrap or bubble packaging, and then bubble wrap the outside of the boat. Put a layer or two of bubble in the bottom of the box, 2" or so of peanuts, then put the boat in on an angle. Fill in around it. I actually bought two of the boxes, cut the top 3rd off, sliced up about 6 or 12" in the corners and then filled it the same way I just described. Then I slid it over the open end of the other box and taped them together. Tape well! If you are declaring less than $500 in insurance, they will not require you to open the box to inspect the packaging. The sport boxes are around $8.00, Bubble wrap was like $17, and the peanuts are like $8/bag, and you'll need quite a few. Hope I was able to help.

Sure can. I believe its the Sport/Utility box. The graphic shows golf clubs in a bag on the outside.

No problem! If we didnt have forums like these to draw from and learn, I dont know what I'd do either! Its always a plus when you can give back. I have shipped so many without incident, I'm a pro at it! This was a sport hydro I packed and sent to a member of OSE. Santa aint got nuthin on me!!

I think that the utility box is going to be too small but I will check when I get home. Thanks for the help.

Sounds good.... Think about going in on an angle, the extra space makes it easy then, the widest spot of the hull will be in the widest area in the box. I have shipped Conquest and Avenger hulls that way, and I think they are wider.

Great to see everyone helping each other! You're going to love the boat, I have FE and Gas boats, 2 different animals.
I've had(still have 1) a few Rio 51s from aquacraft and they are real nice boats. Just purchased a WHH Enforcer 57 Magnum with mod motor and it is HUGE and heavy, overbuilt in my eyes and makes the Rio seem like a toy.

Yea I love the gas boat and dont really want to get rid of it. Its just that the closest lakes are so far away so I barely use it. But I have many lakes where I can run electric all around me so im planning on building a 37 Daytona or something along those lines.
