i got hacked yesterday someone got my password spent a $1,000 dollars but that person sent me a refund of 1,000 back to paypal and i could not log on to paypal see if this was a fake email, it was real contacted paypal and changed my pass word they said to contact the bank to stop payment but they cant so now i get overdrafted because there was only $9 in the bank and have to file a claim to remove the overdraft, but you know how that can be

if you have paypal maybe its best to setup a separate bank out for your online purchases only and transfer money as needed, this is what i do with this account some what-fyi

I was just phished with a fraudulent message stating that my paypal account was cancelled in the subject line. I didn't open it, but I'm sure it wanted me to give either my old password or make a new one. Hacking is a bigger business than anyone can imagine. Crooks can now "work from home". I dream of rounding up these f*&kers & firing up the 'ole tree shredder

I dont click ANY emails that have to do with ANY banking or finance. I go direct to their site. So if my bank emails me about a charge that I may not know about, I just go to the website and look. Its longer to do it that way, but 100 times safer

I got hacked a month ago they got me for 89 $25-$35 transactions they cleared my bank acct. Took paypal 10 days to get me my money back but they did and my bank reversed all the overdraft fees. I noticed it was happining late at nite i went to the atm and took out all the cash i could.

The other day I got an email that said in the title it was about unclaimed funds I had sent to pay for a purchase. I thought it didn't sound right since I had already received the items. I didn't open it but went to Paypal and the transaction was shown as completed. Figure if there was a problem the seller will contact me.
Watch out this may be a part or a different scam.

I have several emails a month which google thankfully throws straight into spam. They say they are from my bank and "paypal". I just delete any from paypal now. And my bank never send me emails anyway so I delete the ones saying they are. Someone is trying to get me. AVG has said there has been over 300 attempts to hack me this month and they have blocked them all!!. I used to use Norton protection but my PC was overloaded with viruses as the software was useless.

Damn that sucks. One of the biggest problems is the united states ships all its e-waste (old computers & electronics) to 3rd world countries. Hackers will scavenge any information off our old hard drives, and use that info to hack us. They also phish us with fraudulent e-mails to get us to give them our personal information.

If i sell a computer I destroy the hard drive or wipe it with an nsa grade disk wiping program. Never just format a hard drive and let it go. Most all info can be retrieved after a format using good simple disk recovery software.

Here are a couple things I bet you may not have known. Some of these assclowns are real creative. They are also randomly sending us links and pictures. These have auto exe programs embedded in them (auto executing programs). As soon as we click the link's or on the pictures, the programs install themselves on our computers. This gives them access into our computers through the (back door). They install keylogger programs that memorize our keystrokes (email's & passwords)and email them back to the hacker. They also use these programs to spy on us through our web cams and you'll never know that they are watching. they usually do this to spy on women hoping to see them neked. If they have access they can even turn our computers and web cams on when they are turned off.

The only way to lock them out from this is to shut the switch on the power supply off when your not using it or unplug the ethernet line.

Never access financial accounts or information from public access wifi, coffee shops, sports bars, bowling alleys etc. Savvy hackers have configured their wireless cards to watch what you do at these places and steal vital information as you type it in.

Sound Bizarro ????? well it's true. My friend Glenn is the lead technician at Hewlett Packard and my uncle is a Microsoft technician too.

I never open unknown emails or unknown link's. I wont open pictures from unknown people either. As far as browsers go I will not use internet explorer, or Microsoft's security junk, its garbage. Hacker programs walk through windows firewall like it doesn't exist and essentials is a joke.

Also never leave a web cam plugged in, only use it when your chatting.

Here's what I use for maintenance and security

1. Avast antivirus - Best antivirus I've ever had leaves panda platinum and norton in the dust.
2. Comodo Firewall w/ maximum proactive settings - Only firewall on the market that passes all leakdown tests with all the bells and whsstles too.
3. Comodo system cleaner - thoroughly cleans my system regularly when not in use
4. Mozilla Firefox - safest and fastest web browser, thanks to the Swedish. Pair with Moz Backup and enjoy

Other maintenance programs I really like.

1. Uniblue power suite - used with great success
2. Registry Mechanic - used with great success
3. Spybot search and destroy - by far this is the best all round maintenance program around, i usually run weekly.

Don't forget, never never never let windows remember your passwords or keep a password list on your system. If someone gets in, they have free reign on your accounts. You may also like *!***!***!***!** sites but its the #1 place to be hacked so stay away from them.

Don't mean to be blunt, but its better to be safe than sorry. Most of these programs are free to home users, they get their bankroll from the business and corporate software they sell. But they give it to the little guy at home, knowing if he needs it for a business he will come back and buy it.

It Helps ! Thanks. I use Avast, will switch over to my Mozilla browser, just reloaded Spybot. Now if I could just get my long lost Nigerian relatives to stop inundating me with f*&kn scams. Wish I could met them in person

You need to make sure your router firewall is setup properly and your wifi is setup so only devices you know can use it.
GSBUICKMAN please explain why you think MS Security Essentials is such a bad product. Norton has been bloated and bad for several years.

In this world of internet and interconnecting databases where history of everything you are/were/want to be is stored.. the treasure trove for hackers is not your Pc... keyloggers and trojan style attacks are so last decade !
