Killing me!
I have a 32" skunk sitting in my basement also. Also have the rudder/strut and driveshaft sitting inside of it along with a 3656-1800 turnigy with OSE jacket waiting to be assembled. The problem is, I have no time to assemble it, and then I have to paint it, which if you have seen any of my boats, I stink at!
I would love this boat, but I have too many projects in the fire now. I would have to sell the cat hull and hardware, which I could do after buying the Genesis, but my wife roles her eyes at me when I say stuff like that. And for good reason!
Someone buy this dang thing! I'd have no problem giving the $240 for it, I just need one less boat! Arghhhh!

They are a nice looking boat and they run great. Two things wrong. Reggie just looks creapy to me. In the magazine reviews back in the late 80's, early 90's , he would wear tight biker shorts and gold chains like a gigilo! I don't know, just odd. Get out of the magazine adds and leave it to the models - normal looking models please. I know he was a hands on person and really had a part in designing the boats and testing them, trying new things out. But he just seemed odd.
Second thing was the boats. Back then, integral swim platforms were kind of new. But there would be a boat test of 38 footers. Scarab and cigaret would send a 38 foot boat with two 502's in it or something. No swim platform or an added swim platform that made the boat longer than 38', but a standard 38' boat. Fountain would show up with a boat with twin SC600's in it, or about 20% more HP. The fountain would also have a 38' OAL but included the swim platform and the 2' beak on the front. So, you had a 34-35' boat with 20% more HP compared to two true 38' boats and he would brag that his boat was the fastest. No kidding! Who would have guessed! I just didn't like the message he was sending there and how he was sending it, turned me off from his company.
A third reason is I have heard the the livibility of the older fountains was not as nice as the other standard boats. Makes sens as you do not have the same room in a 34' boat called 38' feet as a true 38 footer. But really, how much do you expect from a go-fast?
Lately, I have been eyeing some of the mid cabin open bow boats. With five kids, a standard offshore boat would do me no good. That and I moved to Indiana, so lake michigan is about 2 hours away from me now. I miss being 1/2 hour from several beaches and a couple of ports on the lake. So I look to a MCOB or a CC with outboards. Maybe someday, I am thinking of just concentrating and getting my house paid off before my first kid hits college in 8 years. Long shot, but I might be able to do it, I am close to being able to do it.
Anyways, that is why on the Fountain. OF course, Reggie is no longer with Fountain, he is off on another venture so we will see where that leads. Rumor is he might get into cats, but you know it will be offshore racing at the core. He was good at that.

Biker shorts Gigilo.. thats great.
I was never a huge fan until I rode in one. Still wouldnt pay the price, but they are nice boats.

A ride would be great in one!
They did well improving on the classic 24 degree bottom. Notching the transom (which makes the hull act like a even shorter hull) to give the effect of the drives being located further back, allowing them to be mounted higher, using a ride pad surface to give higher speed but not completely giving up the rough water handling as well as using advanced layup schedules.
I think thier edge has diminished over the years as new smaller players who have been more dynamic in thier tooling have entered the scene, but they are still good boats.
Will get that paypal sent out tonight when I get home. Thanks.

Well,i cant really buy the P1 now,but been from the island of Puerto Rico,Caribbean USA, have had the chance to ride and check some beautiful fast boats as well.Specially an early 90`s 32' Scorpion running 2 SC big block marine 502`s that a close friend of mine bought in an US.Marshalls auction for which i used to consult values on cars etc.We used to called it the "Panty sucker"....oh boy,..good memories. The motor were built by Don Johnsons personal mechanic....remember taking it from San Juan(island capital) to Fajardo(eastside) on a headwind(always blows from the east) and we were averaging 90-95mph `cause it was choppy, too much white tips over the blue if you know what i mean......lol
But have owned my owns also,.....bowriders,CC,cuddy cabins etc.Right now in TX i do with a Capri 14 saiboat but even after almost 5 yrs living here cannot get used to the lakes.........But i lust for a small Baja with a small block in it or what the heck a good old Robalo 23 with twin OB or an early Boston Whaler Outrage 22......see,,we all have something in common we really like big boats also.......later guys......Albert
