FYI- I think the Leopard 5692/1340 kv is a lower current draw motor. The 1090 would be a lot more powerfull. Should run well on 8s. 6s (like the 1717) is going to be either too wimpy, or too hot in your 40" hull.

Keith there are no posted specs on the 1717... alot of folks are comparing it to a 1527 which has been known to push a 40" df well..... I think it will work for decent speed...not 70mph but high 50's should be doable.... probably will just need to take it easy and slowly work your way up on props while checking temps.... I know you have a couple 1717's kieth.... so you probably know what they are capable of...

Yeah this guy wont be happy with 6s though...He has the same disease I do.

Castle says the 1717 is a 120A motor suitable for a max voltage of 25.2.

I ran a 2215 in my 40" mono, and it ran mid 60's on 9s2p and 70's on 10s2p. The 1717 has some power, but its no 2215 by any means. I think its a lot different motor than a 1527. Snappy torque and lower RPM like an outrunner. It would probably be a good motor for this ap, if it werent for the high kv of 1580.

Thats why i hope this just sells out right or i trade it for a good esc and some cash. I really want to put the 5692 leopard in her, BUT THE DARN MOUNT ISSUE!!!

keith did you see vid in the vid section of the 40" H&M outboard running? looks like it runs pretty strong... check out this thread... there is a vid in there... obviously the hydro has less drag but still... she goes real well...

Yeah looks great J. Im not dogging the 1717 bro. I think you will be impressed with the torque from this guy

Regardless of what motor it is though, its a lot of kv to go fast in a 40" mono. The OP upgraded to this boat from his cat that went...I think 58 if I remember correctly???...I think he probably wants to go faster...

I ran x457 and s240 props @ 34,000RPM on my 40" mono to get in the 60's. That would be heavy load on 6s.

Sorry for jacking your thread b . We are trying to help though...

Brads a good guy... hes going a little FE crazy... kinda like I did a year ago....LMAO...... but for alot of chop and just fast cruising I think the 1717 would be alot of fun.... not for FAST FAST passes like your 40" copy was keith... w/ the 2215!!!
