Steps are the best part; on real ones its to break the suction factor water has on large surface areas, but they probably serve minimal purpose at this small scale.

      they just make me smile....

          Hey Jesse,
I've been following this thread. I to have a passion for the KOS P1 because of the scale looks and stepped hull. I wish MHZ would make one in a 30ish" hull. Have you seen the MHZ "Scorpion"? Unfortunately it's only a little over 20" and the hatch doesn't look scale but I'm seriously considering building one. Yes, it's stepped, gotta have steps
I'm going to post a question to see if anyone has built one. Can't find much about it.

$100 on the US web site. You can order from Germany for around $75 but shipping might be more.
          From the MHZ web sit:
          Länge: 530 mm (20.86 inch)
          Breite: 148 mm (5.82 inch)

The Scorpion is designed to take a wide range of cells (6-12). As such it has competed successfully in Europe in the Mono I (7 cells) and II class (12 cells).
The hull has 3 steps and is exceptionally fast without sacrificing it´s rough-water handling too much. At any rate, with proper weight distribution of the cells, it is a self-righting hull without the need for a floodchamber.
It´s standoff scale looks has made this a popular boat. Light-weight epoxy-glass stronger than the heavier polyester-glass. Hull and hatch, with high-luster gelcoat. Hull and deck are joined ``wet-in-wet`` for optimum strength.

I love the boats at the top of this thread. I am looking for a mono to build out that is around the 36" range in length. One that is fully "done" with paint job, but hull only. Looking for something priced below 200 or so. I did find some delta force boats that have a nice paint job and Steven told me maybe in November he might have some. Any others out there?

Dragon lady deal sounds like its a go. I will start a build thread on it when it happens.
