    New Guy

Hey, new guy here to electric racing boats, had a couple nitro boats, but hate the pain with gas and plugs. Seen how elec boats are pretty fast now, im thinkin of getting one.Was a good boat to start with and is ABS boats cheap? or are they cool to start with...
    Thanks!!

Hi, I personally would stay away from an ABS or plastic boat. A mid size MONO hull (29" to 34")
is a good place to start. There are several nice fiberglass hull & hardware combos on here FS. Steven (OSE) also sells just about everything you would need for it. These guys on here are good to deal with and can answer just about any question you may have.

I have a ProBoat Apache Its ABS. I had done alot of work to. It dont look very pretty but it floats and with a good motor and esc i had it hauling major donkey. It comes with an extra water picup, BJ26 SS Nitro prop strut and rudder with built in water pickup, controller, receiver, servo also upgraded the stuffing to so i could use the .150 flex cable with 3/16th prop shaft. the only thing you will need is a good motor and esc (brushless) ill put the brushed system back in it so it runs when you get it after that you can decide if you want more power. Picture in my profile. The nose needs a little epoxy and sanding but ill sell it as is for 100 shipped.

Ya i pretty much thought that about ABS.. that's how it was with nitro.Im lookin at what people have to sell and like what they have, one gentleman has a pretty cool lookin shovel-nose, but it's just the hull and not sure if i wanna piece something together. Not really know what i need. I know the basics, motor, servos, speed controller, prop, batt's, radio controller and receiver. Not sure about the rest......

Heck, ask the guy selling it what he ran in it... If it's 30" or under, you could slap a UL-1 motor and ESC in it and it will run - probably real good too.
Also you can't go wrong investing in a leopard 4074 2200kv motor with a SEAKING or T180 ESC as I call them. GREAT all around 4s lipo setup for FE boats for around $200!!! I build these boats on a daily basis,(ADDICTED) and if you get stuck HOLLAR !!!

Oh and get a temp gauge... Temperatures are crucial for FE boats.

I'ld like to find a good used boat.. fiberglass or carbon fiber, that doesn't need body work and only needs a motor, controller, receiver and speed control..

The BlackJack26 1500kv motor and the 45amp Electronic Speed Control are decent you can get both from ebay for about 120 bucks total. Try looking at Hobbyking.com they have a few things. also swanghobby.com
